Winchester Partition Gold High Velocity Sabot Slug
I recently bought a 5 round box of Winchester Partition Gold High Velocity Sabot Slug's in 3 inch 12 guage. I did not however see before purchasing that the box says "for use in fully rifled barrels only". My 870, which is my only shotgun (remington 870 express, 26 inch barrel) has a smooth bore, and whatever the standard choke is on it. I am wondering if it is possible to fire these rounds from my gun, mainly because as far as I have ever heard, noone makes a 12 guage rifled barrel. I have shot rifled slug through smooth bore shotguns before, and am wondering 4 things
1). Can I shoot this through my gun?
2). Will it hurt my gun If I do so?
3). Other than having a sabot around the slug, what is the difference between this slug, and a rifled standard slug.
4). Where can I get a 26 inch, 12 guage, rifled barrel (if necessary)
I would greatly appreciate you guy's knowledge on this, as I am ignorant concerning these types of rounds. Thank you.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am planning to use these slugs for home defense, range is not really a concern as I live in the country, my main concern is whether or not these slugs will damage my gun.
