The Savage Combination Gun is Back
The venerable Savage Model 24 has been reincarnated as the new Savage Model 42. Long hailed as the ultimate survivalist gun on online forums, fans of the old Model 24 are going to love the new and improved Model 42.

This is good. The first long gun I ever fired was this .22/.410 over under probably around 1973. This firearm is a great basic and encompassing survival tool.

1st gun I ever shot was my mom’s savage model 24, its mine now and still one of my favorites to shoot. Glad to see savage reincarnate it

It would be nice to see other caliber/gauge combinations like the old Model 24 had. Like .223 Remington/20 Gauge or .30-30 Remington/12 Gauge. Perhaps even a radical .50 BMG/10 Gauge for those survivalist that must have the biggest. While they are at it the should make the butt stock to be able to carry either additional ammunition or other survival gear since it is a synthetic stock.
BTW. Savage please do not allow Mossberg to help design this combo-gun because they will put rails all over it and a collapsible M4 stock for giggles a chainsaw foregrip. Thank you.

.30/30 over 12 would be cool. I’d also like to see .22 hornet over .410, or even better, 5.7FN over .410.

I have a .22/410 with beautiful wood/case hardened action, and
a .22/20 ga. that is ugly but shoots beautifully (lives in my truck) a .30/30 over 12 would sure fill out my set, or a .454 Casull over 20….

The website says they are making it in 22 wmr/410 as well which should be very nice. If they could get it to take 45 LC as well as 410 like the circuit judge that would be one hell of a survival gun.

I’d like a .22 mag over a 20 gauge. Could take deer humanely with a 20 gauge slug.

I’d like to see the 5.7FN over .410 also….
Better yet shorten the .410 barrel by 1″, thread the 22 barrel upper 1/2 X 28 TPI…add a can, no water needed, bring to simmer and enjoy!
