The U.S. Military has begun destroying ammo cans making them very scarce. We have found a lot of original cans used by the military. These cans still have years of use and are great for storage. Used cans in excellent condition. Non-returnable.
Original US standard 50 cal. ammo can is rugged and stack-able; removable lid, rubber gasket seal, and folding handle. Water and airtight storage.
Length: 11"

Good buy for storage!, 05/04/2008 |
| Reviewer: K P |
| As others have said, some tan spray paint over the writing on the side, so no surprise there. I also got the satisfying "pop" when I first opened it, showing that it does indeed have a good seal.
Overall great condition, but I knocked off one star because the front handle was a tad bent. Still, it should work perfect for storage! |
Just as expected., 04/29/2008 |
| Reviewer: Zachariah |
| Honestly, I expected worse. The box is like new, besides that spray paint (but I was expecting that thanks to these reviews) and seals wonderfully. As said before, I heard a vaccuum seal open up. A little bit of brown sand was in one, but the paint was good as new!! It also arrived 2 days after I placed the order. |
Nice ammo can, 04/29/2008 |

| I bought this and although mine does have the tan paint on it it still looks very nice. I use it to transport my Airsoft ammo/accessory's. Looks cool and is like new condition. Definitely recommend this to anyone iffy about buying it. Can't beat the price, if you can even find them anywhere else. Great product. |
Just like new, 04/25/2008 |
| Reviewer: SDSHOOTER |
| I purchased one with my recent order not expecting much, but I was surprised to get a like new can. To let you know how good the seal is, I opened mine & heard a suction hiss (the pressure at the location it came from was less than where I'm at). All I had to do was take a damp towel & wipe off a bit of dust from the exterior. There was no spray paint my can like others are saying...but who knows, I probably got lucky. It's a great buy, and I just ordered 2 more to put my ammo inventory in. They're heavy duty & well worth the $. |
Ammo Can, 04/23/2008 |

| Order arrived 3 days after placing it. .50 Cal ammo can was in excellent shape. No spray paint covering the letters like others have reported. Priced cheap. This is a great buy!! |

great gear, 04/08/2008 |
| Reviewer: D.U. |
| i just received my 50 Cal used ammo can and it is great. i received it 5 days after ordering it, i woke up this morning looked at fedex website to check on status and saw it was here already. After ripping the box apart, i saw the can was in great shape. It did have some marks on it but hey, it a used military can - what can you expect? The letters on the side of the can were spray painted over with a brown color so it is hard to read exactly what it used to say. No rust, but a little dusty. Buy these cans. They are well worth every penny. You will not be disappointed. At this price, buy two. |
Tan "oblit" paint, 03/28/2008 |
| Reviewer: IYAAYAS |
| These cans work great for organizing, safely storing, and packaging your ammo. As for all the previous comments about people being upset over having the tan oblitterating spray paint over the the can's nomenclature, DODIC, and Lot numbers they are just going to have to live with it. I am an Active Duty Air Force member working in the Munitions Systems (AMMO) section as a munitions inspector. One of the requirements we have before shipping ammo cans out to DRMO is to obliterate all markings on the cans with spray paint. DRMO in turn will either have the metal scrapped or will sell the cans to companies for public sale. Just be happy that when you purchase an ammo can from this company that you are receiving a quality military grade product in good condition that was actually used by one of this country's armed services. Besides, it really isn't that hard to get the paint off anyway. |

| Just got mine in with my ammo can organizers filled up each of one with my surplus 7.62x25 and 7.62x54 cleaned up the closet couple of cases all in one box. Probably be buying more to round up the rest of my 54 ammo. Definately recommend these to clean up your gun room. |
Great Cans, 03/14/2008 |
| Reviewer: Richard |
| I ordered these ammo cans. I was very satisfied with the product: Price/delivery and quality. Instead of spray painting over the letters on the can, you can use acetone and they come right off. It gives a cleaner look than brown spray paint over it. |
Good can, 03/13/2008 |

| For the low price from CTD, this is a great value. They are used and are kinda ugly but they work great for storing ammo and other stuff. They are sturdy and very stackable. I'll be buying several more. |
Lets get real people!, 03/12/2008 |
| Reviewer: Bob, US Marshal. NJ. |
| Ok people, we are all here because we like to shoot; and I sure do my share. Most of my shooting is done on my private time(thank God!). Any way I have stored up alot of ammo for my personal use, and I, like most of you, have run out of places to safely store said ammo. So, while visiting this site I came accross these used ammo cans. I bought six of them(with two sets of the insert trays for two of them). I was VERY happy with all six cans that I received. No dents, handles in excellant shap, and they sealed so tightly that I had to put most of what I have to open them! So if you want pretty and shinny, buy New Ammo Cans that start at $50. and up! In short this is an excellant deal!
PS. I do suggest that for every one of THESE cans you buy, also buy the set of the three Insert Separator trays to go with them, these will come in handy for even future uses. |

| Be sure to order the 3-Tray Ammo Can Organizer(ZAA-074)! Fits like a glove and these cases are in great shape. Perfect gasket. Thanks CTD! |
Great Condition, 03/01/2008 |

| Other than the silly tan paint on the sides, the two I ordered were in great shape. No rust, dents and only a few scratches. Rustoleum's Camo paint is a great match and keeps everything looking good. No complaints here... |
Perfect!, 03/01/2008 |
| Reviewer: Jara |
| First, the order came in 2 days. Thanks!
Cans were in very good shape, one was hard to open and had some sand in it, other was in great shape, ordering two more today. Also got the trays, get them too. Like other posters I wish the lettering wasn't painted over..... |
No More Tan Paint, 02/17/2008 |
| Reviewer: Mike |
| I received my order three days after placing it, and just like all the other reviews my ammo can also had tan paint covering the lettering on the side and top of the can. But with a little work, hot soapy water and a fine scotch-brite pad from local hardware store, I was able to remove all tan paint and over spray without removing the lettering. The can looks great and holds my 556 ammo on stripper clips just like it was made to do. |
Pretty Good Ammo Can, 02/04/2008 |
| Reviewer: 'El Photo |
| Hi,
Yeah, recently I recieved my CTD Ammo Can and I'd asked to have 'em select and send a nice one that looked like the one pictured.
Well, it arrived and it was in VERY good condition compared to the rusty, dented up cans avail. here at our local surplus stores. My only complait was the painting over of the stenciling with beige paint! ???
I liked the stenciling, it gave the cans a more authentic look.
I mean, 'come on, if they were going to paint out the stenciling why
wouldn't they at least get some proper matching OD Camo paint
to do it with. I dunno. I just don't like to buy something only to have it
become ANOTHER project to deal with. So, I'm very happy it's a good can
to store my ammo in but also disappointed with the amatuerish spray-
painting of the can.
What-cha' you goin' t' do?

Great Ammo Cans, 02/01/2008 |
| Reviewer: M4 shooter |
| I bought these along with a bunch of the lake city 5.56 ammo a great combination. Was even able to remove the tan spraypaint that covered the gov. markings so I know whats in them and how much. |
Neat... but..., 01/05/2008 |
| Reviewer: Logan |
| First it is an ammo can, however it is not a .50 cal ammo can, it is a 5.56mm ammo can which is .223, second it has been spray painted tan over the side with the text and the edges of the lid. Otherwise it is in good condition with no rust or dents. It would have been nice to not have to strip and repaint it remake it to original... however I'll survive. |

| Havent bought these cans from CTD, but I have bought them from local surplus stores (A surplus can is a surplus can). I love CTD though.
Point is, figured id share some tips with yall for..ahh..breathing life back into an old can. (Read: Rusty/Scratched/Etc).
Rustolem makes a spray paint line called Camo. And their OD is rather close to the real deal. It also has a sealing agent in it.
If i get a can and its rusty, i scrub it with steel wool, then a bronze brush (Gun cleaning tool) then clean it up with a damp sponge. Let it dry then spray the entire can..inside and out with the rustolem spray paint.
IMO it helps the can last alot longer.
I have bought two of the 40mm cans from CTD before, both had some rust. I cleaned and repainted them. put a coat of clear sealant, then another coat of the paint on it. Currently those two cans are burried about 4 ft deep (I live in FL..) holding ammo, a 2nd BoB (Bug Out Bag), a spare pistol and ammo. I check them every 6 months and i just checked them..still perfect.
Used waterproof vacuum bags on the inside to hold the items just for extra protection from my states notorious wetness.
So yeh..remember..they are surplus cans that CTD is offering and thus some will be rusty. But realize that they can be easily brought back to BETTER than prior condition. |

Great Value!, 11/17/2007 |
| Reviewer: West Antioch |
| I ordered two, then ordered four more a week later!
Cans were in good shape, no rust, seals in good condition. All markings have been covered with tan paint, and one or two smelled a little funky on the inside, but nothing that a little soap and water won't fix.
Overall, a temendous value! |
Not as expected, 10/16/2007 |
| Reviewer: a'lil ticked |
| I ordered 2 of these cans with the understanding that these are used cans but would look nice with the markings on the sides like the picture shown. However, what I received was 2 cans that were painted white on the side where the markings would be with rust spots all over and inside. The only reason why it received 2 bullets is because they were not dented and did seal up.
All I have to say is.. DO NOT EXPECT THAT PICTURE. By the way the tray kits fit perfectly into them. |
A bargain used item, 09/16/2007 |
| Reviewer: Randy |
| I have purchased these ammo cans several times over the years. They have usually been received in very good used condition, and have served me well. They keep my stuff protected and dry while knocking around in the trunk of my car for years at a time.
The only problem I have ever had was with two cans (in the same shipment) - which had been damaged, and somehow each had a broken seam... and I had more than a half inch of foul smelling, oily, brackish liquid in the bottoms of the cans, and the inside bottoms of those cans were starting to degrade.
Make sure you check out the insides of all of yours when you get them. |
The ultimate storage can, 08/11/2007 |
| Reviewer: CAT |
| The .50 Cal Used Military Ammo Can is by far the best means of storage. Watertight, strong, easily accessible and compact...perfect for work tools, automobile, truck, camping and shop. The watertight seal helps to keep contents dry. The secure latch mechanism helps assure tightness of the seal. The lid is completely removable from the hinge. Not to mention storing ammo, it's a safe way. Very easy to carry around and stackable. I recommend! |
No problems with mine, 07/31/2007 |

| For being a used surplus item, I was very impressed. Yea there was a little rust and a slight smell, but after sitting with the lid open for a day or so, the smell was gone. I'll be ordering more, and you should too ! |
Good Rugged Can, 07/12/2007 |
| Reviewer: starsnspikes75 |
| I picked 5 of these up for storing ammo and whatever else. Mine are in fine condition, quite dirty and the lids stick a little on some of them, but the original writing isn't painted over and there is no smell. Minimal rust, if at all. They are surplus ammo cans and are supposed to be rugged. The cans actually are in better condition than I expected. Good, rugged cans. |

| Good cans. picked up two of them for storage, seals are good and seem to be rust free. only problem was the terrible stench that struck my nose as I peaked into the cans. planning on picking up ten more, as they are extremely useful for storing almost anything. you can't beat the price for this great item. just be careful when ordering any surplus gear, sometimes its good or bad, just stay with it and your luck will change |

| I ordered a couple of these and they are great! They are not new but they are not beat up at all, barely scratched. No rust. They seal great and are air tight. Rubber seals are in good condition. These are so much better than what I can get locally and less than half the cost! I think I am going to order more.
