I do not have anything to compare it too, but I would have to disagree that it's "bullet proof". It's nothing like a Timex either. I am a meter reader for the local power company and I went through about 3 of these in a 4 month period. I would ‘pull it out' about 7-10 a day and it just does not hold up to that type of abuse. I used it to keep dogs away from me. So I guess if you don’t use it very often it does a great job I am sure, but it wears out fast if you uses it like I had to. That being said, I would buy it for personal defense, but not as a meter reader.

this item is pretty much bullet proof, and though I have not tested it against ASP and other cop catalog brands, I have grilled it in tests repeatedly that would separate the men from the boys for any brand and it has come out with flying colors. It is like a timex, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It will certainly bang some heads if and when it is needed to defend ones personal safety by someone with the brass to do it. Too bad too many places across a supposedly free land the powermongers seek to keep these and other items illegally from our hands being " We The People"!

Good expandable baton for the price. Highly effective at what it is made for. Would recommend.
