My gas tube arrived yesterday, and it's made by NcStar. The New Century name kinda confuses me. Looks pretty quality made, and it took just a little filing on the wide end of the tube to get her mounted up to my '90's era Norinco. Everything came together and lined up when the filing was done. Had a scope forward mount for this rifle years back, and the scope tube is certainly the place for a mount with this commie critter. The old unit clamped onto the factory gas tube who's constriction caused the rifle to jam every other time. This NcStar is a much better idea. Reliability was flawless. Picatinny rail worked just fine with my nasty old spare mounts. Everything cinched up just fine. I would have rated this gas tube 5 bullets if she woulda fit straight outta the box.

As stated above hand filing is required.. even when I got it to slide into place it wouldn't go down all the way. when I looked at the ribbed part of the tube, its too large. It hits the barrel and doesn't allow it to set into place.

Great addition to my model 56, as always no gunsmithing means with the right tool and some common sense you can make it fit. It took only about 15 minutes with a hand file to adapt it. I simply had to round off the bottom edge so it would slide past the operating rod. Then look at your original gas tube .See the angle of the original, you will need to file that angle to the top of your new gas tube. File a little at a time till you can close the lever that holds the gas tube in place. Now for only a few bucks and a little labor your sks has some cool effect that actually is functional. I'd suggest this product to anyone who needs an additonal rail.

FIT MY YUGO ,MADE IT INTO A ---KICKING WEAPON MADE MY YUGO WORK WITHOUT PROBLEM, WORKS NOW LIKE NEVER BEFORE ,TAKE THE RAIL OFF IF YOU WANT TO ,EVEN WITH THE OPEN SCREW HOLES OPEN THEY ARE BEHIND THE VENT HOLES AND HAVE FIRED THOUSANDS OF RDS. WITHOUT FAIL.
