Bought this item just to try it out and I really liked it. Simple to install on a mossberg 500. The first time using it I did't use locktite on the little nut, but after over 200 rds at the range, the side saddle was a little loose but still functioned perfectly. Holds shells tightly and is the fastest way I can find to reload. It is still new so I don't know how durable the platic will be. It adds extra bulk to the reciever which I do not like but that's a personal preference. This item does what it says it will and I'm very pleased with it.

I have had this for years with my mossberg 500. Not one problem even after reading about stripped screws, but i dont ever remove the shells during shooting. Have fired many rounds with it on still solid. 100% satisfied
Not good for folding stock owners

This is a great product, but ABSOLUTLEY WILL NOT FIT OR WORK if you have a pistol grip/folding stock that comes over the top of the weapon. I'm sure it is possible to 'modify' the side saddle by cutting away some of the rear material so that it would fit when the stock is folded on top. I think that you would lose the look and the practical use of at least two of the shell slots if you chose to do this. I have a Mossberg 500 Tactical shotgun with pistol grip, and unfortunately none of the gun ranges where i live allow you to shoot without some stock attached to the gun. I purchased an ATI Universal Folding stock for my gun and immediately noticed that the stock will not close completely with the side saddle attached. I had to make a choice.

the plastic shell holder completely ripped of the baseplate after just 2 rounds!!!!.the 6 allen screws were still firmly attached to baseplate.i was firing the same winchester 3inch magnum 00 buckshot, and the side saddle was loaded with 6 rounds also.so this may be more suitable for bird or target loads(?).
install with care

great product but here are some crucial tips.first loc-tite is not recommended, its mandatory.after i installed mine on a m500, the 6 allen screws holding the shell-holder to the aluminum(?) baseplate completely backed out after 6 rounds of winchester 3 inch 12 gauge magnum buckshot. second don't be a dummy like me and strip the replacement screw for the ejector tang.I haven't had a a chance to test fire since correcting these problems will update soon as possible

I had the elastic but cuff on my mossberg 500 12ga. But when I changed both stock and front grip for the TAC STAR Grips I needed another shell holder. Holds the shells tight and does not interfer with any of the other accesories. Very easy installation, but use of lock tight on all screws is strongly recommended.
great shell carrier

I bought this shell carrier for my Mossberg 590 and its awesome. It holds the shells in a way that they won't move due to recoil, but they can still be pulled out easily and quickly. A definite must for any Mossberg.
