Got this scope and mount after much research and worry about fit, ect.
It DOES fit my new PTR 91 with no trouble.
The scope is BRAND NEW, circa 1989 and the lens covers are perfect, too. Some reviewers say they were cracked, brittle, dry rotted, ect., but these look like the day they were made.
I also got 2 reticle illuminators (I read a review that said they were problematic), but they both work fine. I have a B-Square mount for HK series and it works great, too, but I am retiring it to backup duty on my other HK 91 caebine, emergency use only.
A GREAT deal on a GREAT scope/mount/case, and it was delivered on time. Sales person was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly, as well as knowing the product line!
I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone with a HK or clone !!
Excellent Scope !

Got this yesterday for my JLD PTR-91 and I could not be any happier! The scope and mount is *NEW*, if it were used I could not see any marks, dings, prints, etc. and I went over it very closely. Even came with the lenses wrapped up in optical paper, just like how it would be factory fresh. Mounting to the PTR-91 was a bit of a challenge, it was super tight but rock solid. Did scratch the receiver mount a bit, but my rifle is a shooter, not a collector's piece ;-). Zeroed perfectly. Great price, great value, great service. Thanks CheaperThanDirt ! Will be back for more !
German scope looked almost new

I read all the CTD reviews about this German Scope Z24 and thought"Why Not" I bought a HK SR 9 (made in 1990 HK 91 Type Target Rifle-no flash-hider,20 heavy barrel) from my cousin last year. With just open sights the SR 9 will drive nails. I hoped I would get a scope that as good as the other buyers had written back about. I was not disappointed. The scope had maybe been put on a rifle once or twice. Scope and mount looked 95% new, and was dated 1986, only 4 years older than my SR 9. And yes I also had to pry off the rubber bumper on the rear of the scope base, and it fit perfect with no movement. I plan on testing it out tomorrow at my range with some 7.62 FMJ's. With the cost of quality scopes and mounts these days, it's a deal for HK 91 owners, received fast shipping too! I also liked the fact that even with the scope and mount in place, I can still use my iron sights if needed. English instructions can be viewed at www.mg-42.net Rodney W.

Scope and carry case are new, un-issued. Mount fits my PTR 91 perfectly. Only 4 stars because when the scope is mounted on the gun, the reticule is about 8 degrees crooked and STANAG mounts have no provision for leveling. Not huge deal, but irritating. That aside, the scope is zero'd, ready to go out of the box. Buy the illuminator when if you get the scope.

I was thinking I was getting a used surplus scope. The one I received looks new! They are not mounted backwards!!! The rear sight on the HK91 is a little different from the HKG3. Just pry off the black plastic tab with a pocket knife, and you are set!!! Also order the reticle luminator. Very cool!!! It turns the reticle red. Very happy, and good price. Fast shipping.

Got my scope in 2and a half days. ZF24 model, looks brand new. Only reason I gave it four bullets is because I had to file my receiver. It is an early model century cetme and they all need a little work. What I did was throw my clothes in the washer and start filing, get some cheap diamond encrusted files they work real nice. By the time my clothes were done,my scope was on. Thanks a lot CTD for having such good stuff. Thanks again folks!

you can unscrew, rotate 180, and reattach the scope to the mount... your mount will now be attached backwards on the 91 series rifle. you should check scope zero because it left the factory already zero'd. be sure to wear your gomer pile hat to the range to warn me from a distance.
or you can just remove the plastic bumper at the rear of the mount and attach the mount correctly with no further effort. later hk91 & clone rifles have a higher site base that interfers with the plastic bumper. earlier hk models that this mount was designed for had a lower rear sight base that cleared the bumper.
+1 on the $30 illuminator... nice red led, small size, good all around.
Problems with fit
Reviewer: Dennis

I've read a number of reviews in which the reviewer indicates he could not get the scope mount to fit on the rifle. I have a PTR91 and mine had a piece forward of the rear sight that was higher than the later models and the HK original. I had to dremel the part of the mount that came in contact with the piece so the mount would lock down.
Some other people may be having a similar problem so I thought I'd mention it. It's not the width or size of the receiver that is the problem it's the piece in front of the rear sight.
I'm not sure what to make of the "reversing the scope" references. I've ordered a scope and will see when it comes in. Are people actually turning the mount around to get it to fit then having to "reverse the scope to the correct position. I wonder if this is the issue.

I just want to say this scope and mount is in PERFECT CONDITION and it must have NEVER been used.
The scope is NOT backwards on the mount. You must remove the rubber grommet gently with a pair of pliers to use this on a PTR-91 or a Vector 93. My V-93 was out of spec BUT the mount fit just fine, just lay it in and pull the lever down FIRMLY. On both my PTR-91 and V-93 the mount would not click in backwards but they clicked just fine when inserted correct way with grommet removed. I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

I received this scope and mount and it is in pristine condition. I am very impressed with it. The scope is mounted correctly, you just need to pull out the plastic bumper others have referenced. The scope covers are meant to be turned inside out to stay open. The illuminator is very useful and worthwhile to get; also very cool! I did initially have a problem when I went to boresight it in that it appeared to run out of windage. However, I did an internet search and came up with instructions on how to properly adjust the sight, and was able to zero it no problem with plenty of clicks left over for fine tuning. I mounted this on a JLD PTR-91K and it went on nice and tight with no adjustments needed. Also, unlike a Tapco mount I tried, this mount is perfectly level with the rifle. Here's the link I found for scope adjustment: http://www.mg-42.net/G3_hensoldt.htm

This scope is great ! it is made to be mounted to a few different rifles ,so removing the bumper is not the right answer just filp around remount and keep it stock hope you all got the illuminator with it well worth $26.00 and better then the Hensoldt issue, buy all this while you can ,Im surprized CTD dident get any of the hk 91 22lr conversion kits oh well they still rock alot more then the other guys who sell bath towls and dust ruffles

I received the scope yesterday on-time. It seems to be in new, unissued condition. Great value for the price, very cool reticle and the optional illlumination module works fine. As with some other reviewers I did, however, need to reverse the scope on the mount-it would not fit my PTR 91 KP otherwise. No problem-a little blue Loctite and this bad boy is good to go!
mount not backwards
Reviewer: hk dude
1/2/2008
The scope is NOT mounted backwards and should be mounted as shown in the above photo. Simply remove the plastic bumper that interferes with rifle rear sight mount and the claw mount should attach with no issues. Gently pull, pry, or push plastic away from base. You'll see the bumper is a slip fit press with two plastic protrusions into the claw mount. It's possible to pry loose with thin blade just be careful not to scratch mount or you can push the two pins from the opposite side of the mount.
Just a tip so you won't look like Pvt. Gomer Pile at the range.

I was exspecting to get a slightly used scope at best, what I personally recieved was a BRAND NEW SCOPE!, I am very picky and beleave me I have examined my scope and it absolutly has never been mounted on a rifle! even the hard military case is in prestine condition. I cant say enough about how satisfyed I am with my purchase. The only issue I had was that the scope was mounted backwards on the claw mount, no big deal, two screws and flip it around. I was exspecting a lot less, In fact I was prepared to send it back and buy a advertised NEW scope on ebay for 499.00, I am glad I didnt as it surely came from the same place as CTD gets theirs.
Well satisfied.

All I can say is WOW! This is one of the best buy's I've had in a long time. It is in as "like new" condition as I could have hoped for. I had it zeroed at 100m in 17 rnd's, removed it put it back on and was right back on my original zero. German engineering at it's best. Only one gripe...I don't read German but my son's highschool German class is paying off. So you might want to get a translator.

Scope was in great, almost new shape. Came with case, cleaning kit and sun filter. Windage and elevation are like the Soviet style knobs in that you can zero both windage and elevation and range then make condition changes. Adjustment is 1cm at 100m per click. Also got illuminator and it fits perfect. Looks like its original equipment. Thanks!

I took a chance on this scope hoping it would fit my ptr-91. Unfortunately, it wouldn't clamp down. I did some research and found that some of the ptr-91's have thicker receivers. Returned to CTD without any problems.

I bought this scope for my HK91 as I wanted a historically authentic optic. The scope functions fine once you figure out how the claw mount works. The mount and scope itself show signs of wear which is to be expected, however the rubber caps were somewhat dry rotted causing one to quickly break off after a few uses. Annoying but no biggie. What really threw me off and took several hours to figure out is that when I recieved the scope it was actually BACKWARDS on the mount itself. Had to be unscrewed and reversed. The illuminator is simple but works great. I have to admit I don't know what the heck theyre talking about when they say it has three knobs for elevation, windage, and distance. It has TWO knobs (count 'em, you can plainly see the pic) that only account for vertical and horizontal. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, works great. But its a bit misadvertised and the backwards mounting could really screw someone up if they didn't figure it out. Buyer Beware!

I went to a gun show and dealer had a used mount "only"; wanted $400. For the same money, I purchased this package. Same mount plus scope. Just received the scope/mount and I can tell you it is the real deal. A few wear marks on the mount and dials, but after 2 minutes with super-blue and touchup paint, it looks brand new. Purchased the illuminator, worth the $30.

I bought this scope because a buddy of mine said they were the best for H&K rifles. He wasn’t kidding this scope rocks and was he surprised when I bought an illuminator though. He didn’t think they were available and the salesperson just happened to mention it. My buddy is jealous now.
