I'll give it this. It fits. Even on a standard Mini-14, the barrel only came past the system about a half inch. The side rails need to be cut back flush with the top rail, the installation system needs to be easier to deal with, instructions need to be included (type something up, even if there are no pictures). The top rail being free floated isn't as bad an option as I had thought. But be sure you buy a quality scope, or the rattling will shock it. Then you might as well throw that away. But it does fit the bill for a rail system on the Mini-14 rifle. You can add lasers, lights, bi pod, scope, red dot, anything you want. But in a few words, it's ugly. Very ugly. I bought it for my shooting partner's rifle, and he absolutely hated it. I ended up paying for it out of my pocket, so I'm keeping it for my Mini. Maybe I can make it work, and I'll let pro mag see my mods, and hope they take the hint.

Sent it back

I sent mine back as soon as I got it on the rifle. It does not fit properly on the ranch version with the shorter barrel. I had less than an inch of the barrel showing. Good initiative, bad judgement on the manufacturers part.

NEEDS WORK!

Box arrived without any instructions whatsoever, not even a pic for reference. The unit attaches to barrel via 2 seperate clamps which are screwed tight and then the rail attaches to these clamps ALONE. The vast length of the rail is unsupported at the far end (toward action) which is free floating about 1/4 inch above receiver and is (for lack of a better word) springy and not aligned, so unless your sight is mounted far forward on the rail, holding zero will be near impossible. I hope ProMag retro fits some sort of anchor which will hold the rail ridgid to the receiver which it CLEARLY NEEDS but I won't hold my breath........ The look of the rail mounted on the mini may take some getting used to, as it radically changes the look of the rifle and may seem odd to some. The bulk of the rail hangs forward of the gas block. Whether that is a good thing or not depends on the individual owner. A pic with the rail mounted to a mini would be very helpful when considering a purchase. There is plenty of mounting opportunity with this rail and it seems well made, but I'd wait and see if they will fix the wobble problem. The price is reasonable enough, but check to see if it meets your aesthetic needs first.
