I bought this vest for personal use. I'm 5'9" 180 LBS it fits me very well. It fits kevlar that I took out from my fathers old kevlar police vest. I'll be ordering some ceramic plates for it, which I'm sure will hold up just fine. The vest comes with some sort of cussion in it. If you order it to put plates into, be sure you take out that cushion. There is a pocket BEHIND the cushion that will hold the plates up properly. The pockets made to hold magazines on either side are a bit worthless. Only complaint about the vest I have. That being said I didn't order the vest expecting they would be any good.

Great Vest. When I received it all I did was dropped my hard plates in the front and then in the netted pouch in the back, made some adjustments and threw it in my patrol car. I was a little upset because the plates rode low. After about a week I decided to make some changes and what I discovered was wonderful. I pulled the inside padding out to find the appropriate place to carry my hard plates, front and back. This inexpensive vest is built just like my issued very high dollar vest. I replaced the inside padding with an extra set of soft body armor and now this vest has the same protection as my high dollar vest. As did everyone else, I cut the side pouches making them single pouches because it takes too much time to retrieve a magazine from them. Considering I am 200 lbs I cut the extra elastic straps and velcro off where the cumberbun connects to the vest and found a nice GP pouch rolled up behind. I use this vest as a full time Police Officer, wear it daily, and will take it on my next military deployment to the sand box.

I ordered this vest for my soft armor and I have to say that I’m very impressed with it. It feel’s that it was built to last. I have seen other vest that cost three times as much, this one feels stronger and of better quality. My soft X-Large armor fits well with out any adjustments to the vest. The only thing is if you’re on the heavy side, you might have a slight problem. I’m 5’10” and have a 38” waist and I could not close the sides properly so every time I moved my arms they would scrape the Velcro on the sides which made it very uncomfortable. But if you’re a thin person this a great vest. You can’t beat the price. I had to return it becouse by belly did not agree with the size.

Hello, first of all i want to thank CTD on this very nice product. have ordered MOLLE gear from this site before and never had any issues with them. This vest was purchased to use on our SRT team. i put a set of second chance ballistic panels in them and some SAPI plates in the front and rear. the only thing is see wrong is that the plates didnt stay up. fixed that problem with some extra velcro attached to the bottom sections. man, i tell you that this vest does it all. and to top it off it was super fast shipping. ordered tuesday morning was on my door step thursday afternoon. get this product. you wont regret it.

For the price I'm pretty happy. As noted, the velcro makes a little noise when moving around. Rigged mine up with 3 open top M4 mags in the front, an SOG Seal Pup handle down on the chest, a utility pouch on my strong side, and a double mag pouch on my weak. I've also moded the cumberbund mag carriers by removing the elastic cording, and cutting the stitching. Resulting in a handy place to carry a secondary firearm. Makes a good Grab and go platform. If you won't be in it daily, you won't regret it.

As a mil-sim player in Massachusetts, I purchased this vest because I was tired of using the MOLLE webbing on the waist straps of my 4-day assault pack. I have to say, this is one of the best vests I've ever seen. It's comfortable, adjustable, and secure. The cumberbund on the inside keeps the base from riding around and distributes most of the weight down to your hips. The shoulder straps allow you to fit it comfortably and keep it from choking you. As part of our exercises as a competitive mil-sim team, I've had my team-mates drag me by the carry handle on the back. I'm a 220 lb., 6'1" male, with a 8 lb. weapon, full hydra, magazines and two steel plates in the front and back. Amazingly, the carry handle held up wonderfully, and the vest didn't get pulled off over my head, in fact, they dragged me over 100 ft. with no damage to the vest. It has plenty of real-estate for a vest, and it seems to incredibly well constructed. While it might not be an IOTV or MTV, it's definitely a fantastic buy for the money. There's no padding where the front and back plates are placed, and the straps from the two clips on the shoulders can dislodge and get snagged on things. Also, the two shoulder clips must be tightened. I forgot to once and the left shoulder velcro fell apart with a jumped up from cover. But, this is mostly me needing to find a reason not to give a five bullet review.

I bought one of these a while ago. When I received it I noticed that my soft body armor would not fit. After banging my head on the wall I figured it out. The BACK panel fit in the FRONT pocket and the FRONT panel fit in the BACK pocket. There is not place on the vest for the Trauma plate but I figured out a way to hang it over the panel using the original cloth carrier (which I have stashed in the pocket just in case.

I bought this vest planning to use it for trainning on the range with my police dept. I was excited when i got the vest in. I attached all kinds of molle pouches and gear to this vest with no problems. It will not take my ceramic plates that measure 10x13 and 11x14 which are large and x-large cyerdine plates. This vest was not designed for stealthy design. When you weight it down with mags and gear the velcro is always making noise on your shoulder straps. Im a very very skinny 145lbs 6ft 2in tall man and this vest fits me, but not as snug as i would like.I would not use this vest as an everyday knocking in doors vest. But for the price of this vest it is very good to use as a throw away training vest, or as a good bug out vest for when it hits, cause its coming.

Bought this a while ago, and later two Class III plates. For the price and function this can't be beat! I cut the elastic straps on the sides to use for GP pouches. Drag handle is strong and all stitching is reliable. Cumberbun allows for tight fit and vest doesn't bounce, even with full load. Lots of real estate for pouches! Need a vest? Buy this! This vest is by far one of the best hidden gems in the contracting world. I use this vest everyday. It is ruggedly constructed and holds up to all of the use and mis-use that I can dish out. I have placed my IIIA soft armor and a set of Ceramic plates on the inside. My particular vest holds all of this in place without it moving around. Initially the vest appeared to be a little larger than what I expected. The vest comes in one size I believe, but if you test fit it, you will be able to adjust the shoulder straps to accommodate it to your individual tastes and size. I am 5'10 with a medium build and the vest covers everywhere that I need. I read one of the earlier reviews who stated that he had difficulty with the High Neckline, I do not know if mine is unique because I have had no such difficulty. I do know that once I figured out how to adjust the straps, It fit like a glove. I travel in an up armored vehicle everyday in fairly tight spaces. The vest stays snug and the pouches remain secure. I have cut the stitches used to make extra M-4/M-16 mags which are on the side. I have turned these into misc. gear pouches. I use the double (Side by Side) m-4 molle pouches which I have placed low in the front. I keep a med pouch on the side and misc. gear pouches on the other. I also have attached a Camelback hydration system to the back. With a full ammo load out, gear and water, the vest weighs about 55 pounds and the weight is distributed evenly. This system overall is just as good as it's $400 and $500 cousins at a fraction of the cost. You cannot go wrong if you purchase this vest. It has more than exceeded my expectations. I had purchased the vest as a temp until I had the money to buy one of the Name brand vests. Now I have no interests in purchasing a name, I simply want good quality serviceable gear. This delivers in spades. Kudo's CTD for making such a vest available.

Ive seen and used the higher priced vests before and this vest is absolutely no worse. The price is amazing for the quality you're getting. Its better for taller people. Also, the colors they show are nothing like what they actually look like. The OD and Tan vest is way darker. The OD looks more like forest green and tan looks more like a brown. all in all one of the best buys ever.

I have had and used a few tactical vest but it has been many years. Not only was I very please with the expedited order and delivery turnover, but the product was everything I expected, if not more. The only drawback I have seen thus far would be in length --at 6'4" I wouldn't mind it falling a few inches farther than it does. You also have to spend a bit of time figuring out how all the velco straps work, as well as their function. However, the vest is more than sturdy -very well constucted. It can be adjusted to me at 6'4", and I also experimented on my girlfriend who it fit at 5'5" --though it looked more cute on her than functional. Overall, highly pleased with this product and it is indeed the best one I have seen. Once used in tactical entry I intend to write another review.

Its definitely a great vest, held plates that saved my life, and like the other guy i had sapi plates in, and behind those Galls soft plates, for force distribution. but, anyway, Its a great vest, my issue one was shot up pretty nasty, nearby IED threw shrapnel everywhere, tore up my plates too.(':,.,:') This vest is wonderfully modular, allowing you to put anything on it. It is a little big for me, measuring in at 5'4, it took a lot of velcroing to get it in place comfortably. Also wore it backwards for 3 days, having much confusion over which side was the front.

I was in the market for a nice Molle compatable plate carrier primarily for use in an active shooter situation. I came across this vest and was pleased that it offered all the features I was looking for and would not destroy my bank account. I slipped some 10x12 armor plates into the interier pockets, laced molle pouches on the front and slapped a velcro I.D. panel on the back, now I'm ready to rock. The vest is fully adjustable so I can fit it over my uniform and soft body armor while on duty or wear it over a t-shirt at the range. I highly recommend this vest for LE officers who might be stuck with only there department issued soft body armor. The extra protection may come in handy.

This is a good vest, well worth the money spent. It's large enough for both my soft armor and SAPI plates as well. Cut the tops straps off and split the stiching for "mag molders" on the sides, they are too small to be used effectively. The only complaints I have is that it comes in only one size, I am 5'11" and 210 lbs, so with all the armor in it it barely connects on the side with the velcro and the shoulder straps are very narrow. At least the quick strap helps hold it all together. So far I have used it for 8 months in Afghanistan and with all mag pouches, aid kit, knife and tourniquets and serpa holster it has held up well. Good quality and with only the minor changes described, it is a solid purchase.

This vest is probably worth twice what you pay for it. Money well spent!!! The magazine pouches on the side: cut the center stitching to open it up and drop a nice 7x7 armor plate in there. If you cut out the bottom of the interior pouch, I'm sure you could fit a 7x 10 piece. The underside of the shoulder straps is some cheap @$$ vinyl; shoulda been sown with more of the cordura. BUY THIS VEST WITH CONFIDENCE!!! It's worth more than every penny you'll spend.

Good Vest With One Weakness

6/15/2007

I bought one of these vests not too long ago, and I was quite impressed with the quality. Stitching is quite good, I wouldn't say on par with BHI or TAG MOLLE gear, but it is definitely done well enough and strong enough to reliably hold MOLLE pouches as well as those two brands, even if it (the stitching) is a little uneven. The velcro, which is responsible for adjustment and basically holding the vest together, is also surprisingly strong for such an inexpensive vest. It holds quite well, and is easily taken off and put back on. Despite being a little bulky, especially for thin guys like me, it is still pretty comfortable and doesn't move around a whole lot even while moving quickly. The M4/M16 mag shingles built into the side are a bit useless, but since they are only divided by a small amount of stitching, a good idea here is to simple cut away said stitching and turn the dual pockets into a large, single, open utility pouch. I wouldn't recommend storing your car keys in them, but they can hold medium to small objects quite well, and the straps that would prevent the M4/M16 mags from falling out hold whatever you want to keep in there from dropping out when you go prone. The armor pouches on the front and back can reliably hold SAPI plates; at first I was a little dubious about this since it looks like they might fall out easily, but I'm no longer afraid of that. Overall, at this point I'd say its one major weakness is its clips that, in combination with the velcro, hold this plate carrier together. They are far too brittle and cheap to be used for this purpose, and this really pissed me off when one of them broke (the ones on the shoulder seem to be more prone to breaking then the ones on the waist). Thankfully, they can be replaced with stronger clips or repaired with some very strong glue (though I'm not sure how long simply gluing it will hold). Maybe this is just an isolated incident, I certainly hope so, because otherwise this is an excellent vest that is well worth the money. I agree that it doesn't even come close to an Eagle CIRAS or Paraclete RMV (not even close, sorry) but it's a unique and useful vest in its own right and still a good buy on a budget.

Bought one of these for tactical training and SHTF, very well built, the stitching is holding up great, and the whole thing is very adjustable. The ballistic pockets will hold wrap-around style panels. I'm sure the side pockets would hold mags very well, but it would be difficult to remove them, especially under stress. I doubt this vest will hold up as long as a Blackhawk or more expensive vest, but for the money it's a very nice product.

I also was able to find POLICE patches to fit the velcro tabs. The vest handles well in practice and stays ready in my cruiser for rapid deployment situations. Other vests by Blackhawk etc. run into the $400 range. This is a great option for officers who must purchase their own gear.

I bought this vest expecting it to be working like a $50 vest. It has far exceeded my expectations. The mag pouches on the side are a little useless, due to the inability to quickly change out mags, but on the same note, are practical because they offer storage of mags for when a situation arises that you just need to grab the vest and go. The vest even holds SAPI plates very well along with soft armor. I have seen other sites on the web that sell the same exact vest for $161.

I bought this for airsoft. I am very pleased with it, I ordered about $100 in pouches and a bladder for it, they all fit very snug. Plus some blackhawk gear for it. My only complaint is the high neck line, you get use to it, but you can't really go prone the way you are probably use to. You can learn this in no time and will adjust fine. Other than that, stitching looks good, no buckles have broken, it's great! The waist band is a life saver, I am 6' 2" 140lbs. guy, I am not a heavy built person at all, and it fits me snug, very impressed about that! I also have found myself the zipper pocket hidden in the waist band for many different things, money, cell phone, important papers, etc.. This IS the best value and best product on the net if you are looking for a Armor Plate Carrier of this type, a great buy, it won't let you down! I however don't have any experience of "real life" use with the product, but for the hobbyist this is not going to fail you anytime soon! I have played in a few skirmishes with it and love it, I didn't go too nice on it, it got beat up and banged around but it's still doing fine! By not nice I mean dove on it many times, forced in tight spaces, and many other things you will probably end up doing if you are a hobbyist or using it to protect your life. Amazing product! Neil

Picked up the vest just to check it out, compare to other simlar Molle Carriers...cheap enough to throw away. Work as Medic/Entry Team member for urban SWAT team. Many guys have a very limited budget for gear. I was able to place several makes of soft IIIA armor in the vest w/o trouble and fairly good coverage (ABA and Diamondback). My hard AR500 plates were a little loose, duct tape would secure them from rocking. The set up and construction of the carrier is excellent, neck line is still high for getting in and out of vehicles. It took all Molle pouches (diamondback, black hawk, eagle) with ease. Spaced well. Overall very impressed for what you get for the money. Although the new "release" armor is the hot word out there, this is professional grade gear. It doesn't compare as an equal to Diamondback (in my opinion, the best for quality, fit, movement and fighting ability) or Eagle or Paraclete, but then again it is about $50.00 vs. close to $400 for the blackhawk (which it equals) This is simply the best molle carrier for the money you will find...anywhere. Plus it's through CTD, not some unknown on EBAY. I wouldn't take it overseas for month in and out combat (not yet at least), but for a professional on a budget that wants to adapt to Molle, or the paintball/airgun guys, you can not beat it.
