| I bought one of these a few years back at about $15 but figured $20 for a new one to put in the wife’s car was a good enough deal. I guess it still is but I was surprised when I opened it up. I compared it against my older one bought for $5 less and the new $20 one had less stuff in it. Even the items it did have were in lesser quantities or quality. Example; Older $15 pack had two 2”x6 yards sterile bandages. New $20 pack has two 2”x4.1 yards sterile bandages. That’s 3.8 yards less for $5 more. Old pack had metal tweezers new pack has plastic tweezers. I guess I figured that for $5 more I should at least get the same amount and quality of items but sadly I did not. I will supplement this pack a bit to fill in some of the copious empty space and bring it at least to the same level as my old one. Its still a very nice basic med kit I just wish it had a bit more for the bit higher price than in the past or at least be equal.

| This really is the basic First Aid Kit for US Army vehicles. The resin case is just as flimsy too. Exposure to intense, direct sunlight will wear the case down and extreme cold will cause it to crack.
We ordered two kits a few years ago when the price was less ($14). My wife is a certified 1st Aid/CPR instructor and I am an Army Officer. Needless to say, we stop at accidents (pray she gets to treat you as she is not only better looking than me, but knows a lot more than I do). But I digress.
These kits represent our third "refill" 1st Aid Kit for my truck (two accidents sapped the previous). The kits work well for BASIC 1st Aid and will help until the ambulance arrives, which is their purpose. If you want a more advanced kit, then you must spend the money.
Pros: Good BASIC Kit; supplies easy to get to; refillable at any store.
Cons: Small case gets brittle after exposure to elements; limited items; higher cost currently than supplies are worth. |

| The contents of the kit I received varied slightly from what is described. I did not get the ammonia inhalant, the petroleum jelly or all of the bandages/dressings. My kit included latex gloves. And I like the instant cold pack.
The box is plastic and seems to be durable enough, but the latches to keep it closed look very cheap and I'm afraid that if I open my kit too much, the latches will break. The first aid symbol on the box is actually just a sticker. I bought this for a weekend camping trip and to keep in my camping supplies. It will fit my needs just fine. I wanted a basic first aid kit and that is what I got. I am giving it only 3 bullets because of the cheap construction of the box, not worth $20. |
