All N95 masks are approved by NIOSH for disease protection. The exhalation valve on this mask helps to reduce the accumulated moisture from your breath that is commonly encountered with most respirator/surgical masks. It's like having the comfort of a gas mask but without the "Armageddon" look when walking around in public. Unfortunately, many companies are taking advantage of the recent Swine Flu scare and marking the price WAY up, so watch out for profiteers!
