Original Swiss Ranger stove sets constructed of lightweight aluminum weighing 15 ounces. The set contains an insulated bottle with a cork lid, winged handle canteen cup, and a wing handled vented stove. Place a fuel source such as Trioxanne (MGR-826) or WetFire Tinder (CAMP-221) in the stove and heat the bottle or cup to warm liquids, MRE's, or soup. These are a must have for all emergency kits, used in Grade I condition.

Very neat stove to have, I recommend it to anyone even thinking about getting one for $10. It does fit perfectly in the modgear pouch too, you just have to have it placed in it the right position so the pouch lid fits over it unobstructed. Also like mcbeast noted the design lends itself well to making a still out of it which is why I ordered a second one to monkey with & make a good emergency still. I wouldn't transport liquids in the bottle because of the cork, but if need be you can always replace it with a screw top bottle.

I got two of these for my husband and me to use in an emergency while trail riding on our horses. I got the recommended holder as well. It is, as one reviewer mentioned, tight to fit in, but after a few times of getting it in and out, it loosens up fine. I heated some water in it. I am not a very good outdoors person, but got it to boil in less than 15 minutes. It took my husband 5, so if you know what you are doing, it works better! I used twigs and not a fire tablet, although I have them for emergency use. I definitely had to use gloves to handle the kettle part after heating it, because it got very hot. I recommend this to anyone who needs such a device. There are other devices such as this, and they are a lot more expensive; maybe better, but not cheaper.

This is a no brainer at $10. I'm building a small fresh water distilling head for the cork topped bottle out of 1 1/2" copper pipe fittings. I will post pics or a link to them when finished. Thanks again CTD!

I bought one of these for my backpacking kit and after my wife saw it and got to try it out she I had to buy another one. These sets are great backpack rigs, if a bit noisy (when strapped to the outside of your pack. With two hexamine tablets I was able to boil ramen in the bottle and still had enough heat to make a warm cup of coffee. I love that you can use any heat source for these and my only compliant is the corked bottle is not great for transporting liquids, although a trial with a rubber band and a baggie pull tight over the opening showed promise. The cork were like new and all other components in great shape. Highly recommended for any outdoors or emergency kit.
