4.0 Rating Great for emergencies - 2/12/2012MRE 12 Enhanced Complete Meal Case of 12 With Heater 1180 Calorie Per Meal Average4.0000

My original review is down below somewhere. I just got another shipment of these and I figure I'd address an issue. I wouldn't worry about the shelf life. In iraq in 2004 I was eating MRE's made in 1990. Like they say, the color and texture may vary, but most of us survived it. Honestly these are better than the MIL MRE's.
3.0 Rating Could be newer - 2/12/2012MRE 12 Enhanced Complete Meal Case of 12 With Heater 1180 Calorie Per Meal Average3.0000

I just ordered these and shipping was wicked fast, my production code is 0090, which means that if I figured it right they were made early march of 2010, I havent eaten them yet. But I'm not worried about taste, I just wish they were newer.
5.0 Rating Great Value, Great Taste - 1/26/2012MRE 12 Enhanced Complete Meal Case of 12 With Heater 1180 Calorie Per Meal Average5.0000

Bought these for my Bug Out Bag, having never tried an MRE before in my life. I had always assumed that they were mediocre, given that their purpose is to last for a long time and pack a lot of calories. I ate one last night and it was great. I was rather shocked. They were produced in March 2010 and I'm assuming a storage temp of 80F so 62% of their shelf life is gone. That means at 70F they have 48 months left. Not bad if you ask me, but given how old they are I think the price should be $10 lower. These make excellent survival or emergency food and it's not as if they're about to expire. I got what I expected, so they get 5 bullets.
4.0 Rating Item described almost accurately - 1/12/2012MRE 12 Enhanced Complete Meal Case of 12 With Heater 1180 Calorie Per Meal Average4.0000

Product is almost on par with actual military MREs minus packaging. I received 6 different entrees but all other items were exactly the same cracker, peanut butter, cookie, shake mix. Keep in mind the pictures display all side items...not what you will receive in one MRE. The lack of any variety with side items added with the issue date of March 2010 is why I only gave it 4 stars. Here is the problem the MREs are already almost 2 years old so at best they have only 1-2 years left to use them. The reason being is that the condition of which they were stored is unknown. Most warehouses are pretty warm depending on location. That being said CTD never claimed these were new issue and I plan to use them within a year anyways. If you are wanting long term storage go with dehydrated the Military doesnt use MREs as long term shelf life food either they destroy tons of old MREs. Overall happy with product for the price I would order another box.....blazing fast shipping as usually
5.0 Rating Tasty and Filling - 12/7/2011MRE 12 Enhanced Complete Meal Case of 12 With Heater 1180 Calorie Per Meal Average5.0000

This is my first MRE purchase. I tried one of the packs and was suprised at the quality of the food. It had a hot entree, two big saltine crackers, peanut butter, big oatmeal raisin cookie, bag of peanut M&M's, lemonade drink mix, vanilla milkshake powder mix. I'm a picky eater and would not complain at all if I had to eat this camping or in an emergency. The big bonus is that they last about 8 years.
