It's a low buck kit

Any smart outdoors person or person filling up a B.O.B would have brains enough to figure out that a low buck "survival kit" is just that a low buck survival kit. I bought several from a box store and one from CTD and I have to say the one from CTD was better but there are some additions that I made like a space blanket, better compass, a Streamlight, a magnesium sparker and water treatment tablets. But if you are new to the Build Your Own Kit then this kit is a good jumping off point. Or even as a back up kit to a bigger kit. Sometimes it is good to have a kit on you as well as in a bigger pack. And this one is well suited to that need.

this is the wort thing i have gotten from ctd so far. didn't have a compass, and most of te stuff in it was cut rate. in the good side the pouch was solid and the scissors that it came with were better than the ones that came with the platoon medical kit. on the whole it was still fairly decent, but (as some reviewers have said) it would be better to buy the pouch and assemble your own. another posative. . .less than 24 hours from order to showing up at my door.

good starter kit

good little compact kit, probably great to keep in car or backpack.. Compass does not work.....at least mine didnt. Little bit of extra room to add a few things like a knife or tool..

I pulled all the stuff out of it, and gave the pack to my kid to put his Nintendo games in. The pouch -- although VERY nice -- is really too small to be of any use, except to carry the little bit of stuff it came with... ...the items WERE somewhat useful, so I'll add them to my EMT pouch. It was worth the price, but don't be too hopeful... ...it falls FAR short of a "survival pouch". Where's the multi-tool, collapsible canteen, fishing gear, and handy "how-to" guide? If you don't know what you're doing in the wilds, and don't know how to find food / water / shelter ALREADY, this kit is just a nice little bag of trinkets.

My pouch arrived with all the items included (nothing missing). The contents were O.K. quality; the pouch is excellent. I would recommend buying just the pouch and then assembling your own kit with items purchased here or at a drug store / department store.

I bought this thing with high hopes and when it got here the gauze was opened and it came with a toy compass!! The only thing good is the bag i took out all except matches.

I wasn't very happy with this kit. Mine only came with a flashlight, 2 glow sticks, matches, compass, whistle, mirror and gauze. They show a lot of stuff in the picture that you will NOT get. Like the first review, you can make a better one by starting with this one. POUCH=GREAT, STUFF=BAD.

Mostly gimmick, not one of the better CTD products

I was so disappointed with this "survival" pouch that I dumped it out and started over. The shake-light never worked. The thumb-saw belongs in a flea market Rambo knife. I got better scissors in kindergarten. But try this: the best part of this product was the CTD MOLLE pouch, so order it separately (MOLLE-451), add CTD's weatherproof lighter (CAMP-623) or matches (CAMP-348), signal whistle (X-403-C1), battery-free flashlight (X-008-L8), multitool (35009, or much better, 35014), also a pair of solid work gloves, a 7.5" mini prybar, a mini first aid kit and small pair of medical scissors (all these at your hardware store). I fit all this and more in mine. If you're truly concerned with preparedness, skip these "cheap, easy answer" kits and do it yourself with better products from CTD. This is a great starter for a survival pouch. I say starter because it basically has all the essentials all I had to do is add a few of my personal items. I added some protein bars, magnifying glass, pain relievers, razor blades, a all fishing kit and an emergency blanket. I had to do some careful packing but it all fit. I probably could have fit more but I didn’t want to stuff the pouch.
