I took mine out when I go mushroom hunting in the Blue Mountains of WA. It works great. It takes time to get used to the weight, it may be off balanced but it will get you through think brush. They should give you a better sheath though, that is why I only have 4 bullets.

Great Machete, I'll use it for yard work. It's of excellent quality as I've come to expect from Ka-Bar. As for it supposedly being so "razor sharp" (as BIOHAZZ says in his review) that if you touch it then it will make u bleed all over the place....that's a made up story I think. No way! I found it to be reasonably sharp although I used my honing stone to sharpen it more to my liking. Its a bit tricky to get in and out of the sheath due to the blades shape - perhaps that's how the other guy got cut, not being careful.

This knife looks, feels, cuts great! I did not know if it was going to be good so I used it a whole 8 hours of just chopping up wood and sure enough it delivered the cut I hit as hard as i could i even stabbed the wood and it did not even bend or chip off. When I got the Machete it was RAZOR SHARP and after I was done for the day it was dirty and I cleaned it without gloves and, the machete proved it was still RAZOR FUC%$#@ SHARP by slicing my finger. I cut the very tip of my finger off it wasnt too bad it was just bleeding all over the place, but overall this machete is the best one I have had plus it's a Ka-Bar machete, no more explanation needed, but I loved it it was a RAZOR in the box and still a RAZOR today, I LOVE IT!!! You want a good machete Ka-Bar is the way to go worth every penny

I used the knife on a 3 day camping/hiking trip. Great for medium size log or wood cutting. The sheath is fair, be careful how you draw the blade you can cut the stitching in the narrow part of the sheath. Would prefer kydex or a plastic sheath. What more can I say its a Ka-BAR TOUGH!
