Just Water, monolithic ceramic drip filter works as well as the high end British ones only at a fraction of the cost!

This half-micron filter removes water-borne bacterium with a 0.5 micron efficiency which exceeds NSF standards. The ceramic filter can be cleaned with a soft brush at least 100 times, and it produces 14 gallons of drinking water per day. This system includes a ceramic filter, filter sock, and spigot.

Simply double stack two clean five gallon buckets with lids, drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom of the top bucket and through the top of the bottom buckets lid, place sock over filter and install it in the bottom of the top bucket. Drill a 3/4" hole on the side and near the bottom of the bottom bucket and install the spigot. Fill the top bucket with water from a lake, rain, tap, river or stream and in an hour you will have bacteria free water to drink in the bottom bucket.

I've used this filter for several years now in third world country situations. I have found it to be an excellent source for producing clean water for small groups of people. It is my understanding that this filter is being used in many foreign countries right now. I personally have used it in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Brazil with humanitarian service groups. The first time I used the filter was in Jamaica, as a typical “two 5 gallon bucket gravity flow drip system.” It provided drinking water for 22 people for a week. No one got sick on the trip, except for one couple that admitted to brushing their teeth with local water. The written reports look impressive, even though I may not fully understand the terminology. I am here to tell you from a personal stand point that I feel safe filtering any water with this product. Ingesting water born bacteria can be a painful and long lasting experience. Unless you are 100% sure the water you are drinking is safe, I would recommend that you have this filter system on hand for those types of situations. Thank you for making this available to the public!

CTD staff is AWESOME and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The filter, however, is very delicate. The first one arrived broken and there was charcoal everywhere. I contacted customer service and they sent me a new one immediately, no questions asked. I received this yesterday and this time it is intact. This would be a much better product if there were some way to make it more durable. In an emergency situation, where things can't be delivered, it won't be like you can just order another one when the SHTF. There is a good video to watch on the site to help you with assembly and some good tips by other reviewers. My great experience with customer service will keep me coming back and ordering other things.

I have been using this filter for some time and in several countries and have not had any problems with the filter or with bad water. I just got back from Africa and the group I was with used it and none of us got sick. I have also used the filter in Haiti, Mexico, and Brazil and have never had any kind of medical issues because of bad water. Check out the company’s web site and their lab reports. The filter does what it is supposed to do - filter out the bacteria. I can’t believe the fast delivery service that Cheaper Then Dirt has. Good job.

This does what it says, I think. I don't understand a lot of the terminology of what it claims. HOWEVER, I took some water from the roof (rain water caught in a 55 gallon drum) and another sample from a local stream (clear water stream). I then sent unfiltered samples and filtered samples for testing. The smell of ditch water was gone but the testing lab told me not to drink the water. Both filter samples had very high levels of e coli and other nasties that will make one very sick. Their suggestion is after filtering, boil the water for 3 minutes, then it could be consumed.
