I received this and like a lot of other people said, it broke when I was installing it. One of the little prongs on the end broke off. But, it still fits securely so I will keep my older cotter pin retainer pin just in case.

This was installed on a Del Ton DTI-15. I followed the directions on the cardboard insert and the tips found in these CTD reviews. I worked it in and out of the hole from the other side 2-3 times, then tried putting it in. I repeated working it in and out the other hole until it would fit through the proper side. It helps if you have a flashlight shining in through the back of the carrier group so you can be sure the pin is actually lined up with the right side hole.

I have well over 5000 rounds and 3 training classes with this in my Rock River now, no failures and it looks almost new. I just ordered another for my current upper build. I still say order a second for a spare as the biggest problem for breakage seems to be not getting it lined up 100% straight before applying pressure to seat the pin. It is tricky til you get it done once. I watched 2 people do it in class before I realized that I had done the same thing on the first one I broke.

Just to be quick and to the point, I'd ordered this to rectify that cotter pin deal on my Stag 3HL, prefer the old 'stoner' design myself. I can say this, all you guys that had issues with it, must've had bad luck or something. I worked the splayed end into the bolt carrier from the opposite side, not the pocketed side, a few times first to take off some of that coating, and bang, no problem whatsoever going in. I give it a 5 cause it doesn't seem this thing will break after time like the cotter pin will, if you got an AR, get it!

needed another pin for a build I'm working on... whatever. wearing the end of the pin in a little seems to be sure fire unless i have been fortunate enough to have received 2 pins that are made to the right diameter. watch for the .018'' difference i guess.
