1.0 Rating Surplus Junk - 3/2/2012SGM Tactical 75Rd AK Drum Mag, 7.62X39, Korean Made, Black1.0000

Well, I had high hopes. I received this drum and was excited to use it with my AKMS. I had prior experience with this drum and did not really enjoy it. I thought I would try it out again and see if my mind would change (after all, who wouldn't want a drum full of rounds?). Well, I loaded the drum, it jammed a few times and then the feeder broke. The metal actually twisted and ripped off. I don't recommend this item for anybody.

First off, all the people complaining about these drums not fitting and that they are "junk"... you are seriously mistaken. these drums need to be fitted to YOUR rifle. when is ay fitted, i refer to the tab on the back side of the magazine that the mag latch catches. you will most likely need to do a little dremmel work, but make sure to keep the same profile as it comes standard. a little grinding, then test fit and so on and so on until you have them fitting as perfectly as mine do. i can one-handed drop the drum from being locked in place which you cant do with a normal 30rd mag because of the weight. cycles perfectly and have had NO issues with this product whatsoever! and again, CTD comes through with amazingly fast delivery as always, thanks!

Ok, so to start CTD has insanely fast shipping as always. From the moment of purchase to day I recieved my packages was about 3 days total. (ordered late sunday night and the arrived before noon on wednesday) Upon first inspection and loading of these magazines they seemed fairly well built and absolutley COVERED in cosmoline, but that's alright, a little elbow work and a dry towel and they're good to go! Haven't fit them into my ak or fired them yet, hence 4 bullets. will post another review once I've test fitted and fired them and again, thanks CTD!
3.0 Rating Buyer Beware!!!! - 8/27/2011SGM Tactical 75Rd AK Drum Mag, 7.62X39, Korean Made, Black3.0000

I ordered this item last week and got it today. After opening the box it looked impressive, sturdy, well-oiled and all in all looked pretty well made. But after inspecting it more closely, I noticed that it did not fit with a snug fit in my AK. And another thing was that it would not lock into the mag housing. I could not get the drum to lock into place. Needless to say that was as far as I wanted to take it. There was no way that I was going to use this drum in my AK. I value my life more than that. I'm sure CTD will gladly refund my money. I am not worried about that. My suggestion to anyone wanting to purchase one of these drum mags.....DON'T!! CTD has had a good track record with me until this incident. I still plan to buy from CTD, but just not this item. BUYER BEWARE!

Looked good outta the box (well lubed, good spot welds, & even paint). Design is solid with a nice feature of being able to leave it loaded w/out holding the spring under tension. Mine fit pretty loose in my Saiga-conversion (bout a 1/8" of play on the front mag catch) but a nail shaft (same diameter as play) trimmed to 1/2" long and JB welded to the bottom of the front mag catch was a cheap easy fix. Problem is the mainspring slips after only a revolution or two, leaving you just enough spring tension to feed (at best) a handful of rounds. Unfortunately this is very difficult & dangerous to try and fix since the mainspring is welded in it's own metal housing and is likely pre-tensioned. If anyone knows how to safely disassemble one of these please post. If you get one and it does work heed caution not to overwind it because the weld (or whatever) that holds the mainspring is questionable. And no I didn't overwind mine it was broke outta the box (but like a dumbass I didn't check for function before modding it to fit my rifle better, so now I can't send it back).
