Braided nylon parachute cord, with seven strands of nylon liner, can be used for fishing, snares, or sewing. The soft braided outer shell is durable yet cushioned, allowing this cord to be flexible so it is the perfect wrap for knife handles, spears, and survival gear. Mil-spec standard USA production and super quality.

Parachute cord, also called paracord or 550 cord, is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes during World War II. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic.

US Military issue paracord is specified the MIL-C-5040H standard. The Mil-Spec specifies six types: I, IA, II, IIA, III, IV. Type III, the most common, is nominally rated with a minimum breaking strength of 550 pounds, thus the term "550 cord". The US military specification for paracord contains specific denier figures for the sheath strands and inner yarns, but there are no overall diameter requirements for the cord.

Somethings you can't have too much of while bugging out or setting up camp. Food, water, ammo, duct tape, and 550 cord. This package is the perfect size for your BOB for trail use. Hint: heat-seize the ends when you get it. And for every cut thereafter, seal the sheath outer braid to the inner core. I'm happy!

Great stuff I put it in my BOB and used about 2 feet to make each of my boot laces. Now if I'm ever in the crap I just undo my boots and 4 feet of the stuff is mine.
