This is a great kit for serious injuries, more or less the same kit as I was issued in the AF, except for the tourniquet (which had the nice ones you could apply yourself, if you think you'd be up to it). If you are worried about taking out splinters or cleaning a paper cut with an alcohol pad, get a kit from the grocery store. If you want to stop the bleeding and save a life, this one will do nicely.

I was attracted to this kit for its compact size and billed completeness in a small strap on kit. Frankly, it's a nice MOLLE bag, but I'm totally underwhelmed with its contents. Gauze, compression bandage, tape, gloves, and a latex tourniquet. Nothing to get a splinter out. I'm not going to pan this item outright, as it can be used as a base starter unit to build out a worthy First Aid kit, but as is, CTD failed on this one. They can and should do better for the price. Just too expensive for what is delivered.

This is a great kit. There has been some criticism of the tourniquet. I would recommend that the tourniquet supplied be replaced with a CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet) which is easy to use and can be self applied using one hand. A second suggestion would be to replace the Quick Clot with a Celox sponge and/or powder (it does not heat up).

CTD must've listened to the critical reviews from a couple months ago. My IFAK contained 1) a webbed tourniquet, like an Ace bandage, NOT a latex one, and 2) one of the bandages was one of the fancy Israeli-made ones, in the 4" size. My one criticism - and if the IFAK is in fact made to USGI spec, then it's probably invalid, as then the criticism is with the design, not CTD's execution - is that considering this is oriented toward wound care, there are no antiseptics or cleansers - no hydrogen peroxide, iodine, isopropyl alcohol, even hand sanitizer. However, those are easily added.

For the amount that this kit cost, I was very disappointed when it arrived to see that the nice tourniquet in the picture had been replaced with a cheap elastic strap.

One change from the previous release of this item: the nylon webbing tourniquet has been replaced with a rubber strap. The rest of the contents are the same.
