The Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point gives you more range of motion and versatility than nearly every other sling mount on the market today. With more than 180 degrees of movement, you can rapidly transition your weapon from one shoulder to the other when needed to maintain your position behind cover. The ASAP mount replaces the stock AR-15 receiver end plate and gives you a tactical advantage with the snag free design. Works with any single point slings as well as the Magpul MS2 sling (ARR-867). This is a very solid piece of steel. I agree it is a pain to get the extremely tiny locking block into place, but this is a quality sling attachment. That odd looking loop is designed for their type of sling, mobility, and movement. Yeah, I am the type that doesn't like my gear to rattle either, but it won't when there is a sling mounted to it. Get the MS2 sling! I have tested, used, and seen so many different types, but the sling designed for this attachment quells any single or double point issues. Minus one bullet for locking block. Very glad I bought it.

This sling works great for switching from dominant to non dominant side while shooting. Works really well with the magpul multi mission sling that I have. It is a little heavy and doesn't fit on every lower receiver. For some reason certain receivers are too wide to fit the flared metal pieces on the sling point. Don't let that fool you though, I purchased another one for my other rifle because I liked it so much. It wasn't too hard to install, a little trickier than a standard end plate because this endplate sling point is made for both commercial and mil spec sized buffer tubes. Two small keys are provided with the endplate, a longer one for commercial and a shorter one for mil spec buffer tubes. You select the appropriate sized key and have to place it ever so perfectly in the notch provided. Once you make sense of this it goes together rather well. I did it myself and I am not a gun smith and have never removed a buffer tube before... if that gives you any idea of its difficulty. I would recommend.. also if you like QD sling points try the noveske endplate. It's light weight and will function similarly.

I bought this sling mount for my daughter to use on her hunting AR-15 carbine and it is the loudest attachment you can get for an AR-15. The metal on metal between the loop and the end plate is horrible and if you have a metal clip on your sling to attach it to your weapon it is even louder. I cannot imagine why they would think this is a good item to sell as a tactical product. It is like putting a bell on a cat to know when it is coming up behind you.

While I am a big fan of Magpul's products, I am not a fanboy and have to say this part is an engineering letdown. Notice in the pics that instead of a raised tooth to engage the slot in your buffer tube, there is actually a notch. The ASAP is provided with two tiny blocks, one to fit mil-spec tubes and one for commercial. Getting this block into place is not a monumental task, but it is a bit of a PITA, and Magpul could have easily eliminated any difficulty simply by procuring two stampings and allowing you to choose, like they do with their stocks. Bottom line is if your buffer tube nut ever came loose in the field (or elsewhere), you could lose that tiny block, have a semi-functional weapon and be forced to shell out for another ASAP or another block. The ring on the mount is also a bit of a jingle generator, if you are concerned about noise. Quality of construction is typical top-notch Magpul, the design not so much.
