Desert Big Dog Knife -
The Desert Tactical Folders were designed by Kit Carson. They are special Desert Operator's versions of some of his M16 designs-made to blend and almost disappear in the desert environment. The Desert Tactical Folder is the Desert Big Dog M16 knife. It features a 3.94" partially serrated tanto blade made of AUS 8 stainless steel, .14" thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 57-58. The blade has a non reflective Desert Tan titanium nitride coat, dual checkered thumb studs, and the Carson Flipper for ambidextrous one hand opening. The contoured aluminum handle, 5.31" closed, has a stainless steel liner lock, and the Lake and Walker Knife Safety. The handle is hard anodized Desert Tan, and is drilled to lessen weight. This knife includes a side to side-end to end reversible stainless steel pocket clip. The Desert Big Dog M16 knife weighs 4.9 ounces.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

Tanto Blade -
This knife blade was inspired by the shape of the Japanese sword blades. The point to this style blade is in line with the spine of the blade. The tanto has a reinforced point which is thick and strong and is good for heavy duty stabbing cuts.

AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.

LAWKS® -
Many CRKT folders feature the patented Lake and Walker Knife Safety system. This system converts folders into virtual fixed blades when the blade is opened and locked, and when the LAWKS lever is slid forward. To fold the knife, simply slide the lever back, and release the liner.

Ambidextrous -
Using both hands with equal ease. Pertaining to knives, it is a knife that is not solely designed for a left or right handed person but can be used with equal ease by both hands.

Titanium Nitride -
Extremely hard ceramic material, often used as a coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbide, and aluminum components to improve the substrate's surface properties.

I have had this knife for 2 1/2 years, and it shows. It has a few nicks and dings and scratches and scrapes. But, it has never failed me in anyway. I have abused the blade so bad it wouldn't cut butter, and brought it back to life using the crkt slide sharp till it would shave my arm. This is my go-to knife. i have experienced slight corrosion which could easily have been preventable with a little more care. just keep it clean and keep it sharp and it'll last you years. i still get gasps from people when i flip it out with that mighty "THWACK!!"

i got this knife a day ago and its awesome the online pictures just don't do it any justice at all and it like a razor blade it folds just like its smaller brothers and opens just like them to it smooth and quick and deadly!!! its also just a beautiful knife and completely corrosion resistant!!!! i highly recommend it for self defense
