KA-BAR, Short Black Serrated Edge Knife -
Three quarters the size of the Black KA-BAR made so popular by our men and women in uniform, this knife is a more practical civilian version.

Clip Blade -
The clip blade is a classic shape and very practical. Its name describes a shape that seems to have a portion of the spine of the blade clipped off. This brings the blade point lower for extra control and enhances the sharpness of the tip. It provides ample "belly" in the blade for slicing or skinning and a good tip for inserting in and under things that need to be cut. You will often find a false edge with the clip point.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

1095 Steel -
This knife is easy to sharpen, plain carbon steel used in knife making. It's proven to be one of the most popular steels used in KA-BAR knives.

Epoxy Powder Coating -
A coating process that protects blades from corrosion and also makes them non reflective.

Flat Ground -
A grind the tapers from the top of the blade down to the cutting edge. Also known as a "V" grind.

Kraton G Thermoplastic Elastomer -
Referred to simply as Kraton, is a man made material resembling rubber that can be molded into knife handles. Knife provides a non slip grip.

One thing good about my order, thanks to CTD, was I received my order pretty quick... However; The knife I ordered was somewhat smaller than I imagined. I knew it was a 5 1/4 inch blade, however I figured the handle would be bigger. Its like a mini knife, made for a smaller individual. I decided to keep it, because I heard returning it is somewhat costly. Overall, the KA-BAR is of good quality and is decently sharpened. I might take it on hikes and camping trips as a back up knife. On a side not, I plan on ordering the full sized KA-BAR as my primary blade for on the field. Hopefully it will come with a plastic sheath instead of the small leather one that doesn't have a leg strap. Probably worth the extra 10 dollars to get the full sized one.

I purchased this knife & was pleased when it came in the mail...now I'm having 2nd thoughts.It didn't come with the kydex sheath I was told I would get. Instead it came with a defective leather sheath thats been scuffing & scratching the blade since i got it.Be careful returns cost more then the knife's worth I recommend the 7 inch blade @ least you will get a better sheath. Enjoy & used a different sheath then they send you.

The reason this knife is crafted of quality carbon steel is because of how sharp you can get carbon steel. Not only is carbon steel sharper but it will hold the edge longer than any stainless can. As long as you have a good quality sheath, there should be no problem with rusting.

I bought this knife July of 06 and it came three days later. When I opened the box I could tell it was great quality. I don't know how they got the knife so sharp but it could probably cut about anything. The blade is a good length, and the knife was well balenced. It wokes very good for a hunting/survival knife. I would recommend this knife to anyone. All my friends loved it too.

This is a great knife, it has good balance and a strong blade, its got a good length and is easy to handle. I have had mine forever and have dropped it lots of times, its the sturdiest knife ive ever had and the length is just right to bring it along anywhere. like camping, hunting, fishing, or anything. and the leather case is extremely tough.
