Our Trench Hawk may well be the perfect antidote to the raw terror of eyeball to eyeball combat in the confined spaces of a trench, bunker, alley or narrow hallway.

All it takes is one stroke from either the vicious cutting edge or its brutal wedge shaped spike to end the fight, and if the party starts at longer range the Trench Hawk's twin "business ends" make an accurate throw a breeze, since there's double the chance of a lethal hit. When used defensively, the Trench Hawk's cutting edge and spike also provide a big advantage, as either can be used for hooking or trapping and, like our Spike Hawk, their combined length can be used to parry or block an incoming blow.

Drop forged from 5150 carbon steel and differentially hardened, the head of the Trench Hawk will withstand tremendous blows and the awful stress of continued throwing.

The handle of the Trench Hawk is also highly resistant to shock and impact and will withstand abuse that would easily break even a tough hickory handle. And, as an added benefit, is easily and cheaply replaced when finally worn out or broken from repeated throwing (NOTE: any handle can, and will, break eventually).

Finally, to help protect its owner from its cutting edge and dangerously sharp spike, it comes with a patented Secure- Ex sheath that features a cleverly articulated design.

With about one foot or less of paracord, and very little ingenuity, this will hang secure on a ruck sack or backpack with molle. Maybe the best thing about this axe is that the high quality, heavier parts are where they need to be. The handle is a lightweight polymer. The blade is high quality steel. I would maybe design or look for an axe that surrounds the handle at the head. Wood, no doubt will leave some beauty marks on the handle where it meets the metal when chopping logs. But for the weight, this is boss if used properly. ie. no log chopping. Tree chopping, OK.

Cold Steel got it right. I use the Trench Hawk mostly for building shares, and clearing fields of fire when hunting. It is sharp, well balanced, and sturdy. It chops, hammers, digs, and anything else I can come up with. I have thrown it hundreds of times and it is no worse for wear. This is the tool I was looking for. The sheath is top notch, very sturdy. The hawks with the nylon sheaths seem like an accident waiting to happen. I carry it into the field attached to the back of my shooting vest, it's out of the way but within easy reach. Great product, good buy.

Ok picked this up to put on my pack for whatever comes up. The thing is down right scary and works well if your not trying to lumberjack through the woods with it. My only complant is the case it comes in is difficult to use in any type of carry position.
