Just got these grips yesterday. Look great, feel great, needs some minor trimming, but nothing I cant handle on my own. Bought this for my Taurus 1911, and they really dressed it up. They got here quick also. Ordered a set of cocobolo grips from another site and they took forever to get here. These got here in a day and a half. Thanks CTD

Just came back from the range where i did a test fire with my new grips and couldnt be more pleased. Very comfortable and makes the sights line up for me much better. The medallions have not fallen off yet so i give mine a 10/10 rating. Looks great and feels great! Definately worth the money in my opinion...

I recieved my new 1911 Grips about 10 minutes ago. I am TRUELY OVERJOYED. I installed the grips in 3 minutes flat on my Springfield Armory 1911A1. It transformed my carry gun into a work of art (more so than it was). I wood is very high quality and the soft tacky rubber feel great. it does not allow the gun to slip at all when I pull it from my holster. This is truely the best and cheapest upgrade I have ever done to my 1911A1. On a side note, My wife has very small hands and didn't like the way the stock grips felt, but this grip well change all of that. Thank you CTD and Pachmayr for the transformation. I feel like I have a Brand New Weapon!

Emblem fixed

They did indeed fix the emblem problem by screwing the emblems to the wood from the inside of the wood panel. My issue is my ambidextrous safety. there is no notch for the right side release. I'll have to shave a bit of wood off. I would rather have the rubber feel more like hogue rubber grips instead of a slick rubber feel. overall, a good grip with a decent feel.

I was a bit skeptical at first to buy this product by looking at the other reviews. However I am very pleased with the product, it makes the 1911 look beautiful and the quality of the grip seems very high. As far as some of the other problems people have been having with this grip, the one I received must be a revised version. From what I can tell there is no glue holding either the rubber or the emblem onto the wood. But rather a screw is holding the emblem and rubber onto the wood. I have not range tested it yet, but my initial observation is that the piece is held together very sturdily. It looks like Pachmayr fixed the old problem of the emblems falling off by screwing it onto the wood instead of gluing it on. The rubber grip is held on tightly by the bottom screw as well as the screw that holds the emblem on. Overall I am impressed, very nice. I would recommend to anyone with a 1911.

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to up grade your 1911 grips, This is it. However, you get what you pay for!!! The grips that I purchased were nice at first. After about the third day at the range the emblems fell off and the rubber separated from the rest of the grip. I was able to remove the rubber from the wood completely. I removed the old glue and used a better adhesive to repair it. Since then I have found better wrap around grips. Shoot Safely!!!

These grips are excellent. they are much softer than the hogue girps I have on my AR and Desert Eagle. The only modification I had to make was because I have a Taurus with ambidextrious saftey and I had to make the indentation in the back for it. the medalions are have a hex screw to hold them on from the inside as this is one of the points where the rubber is held on and the other is your bottom screw in the grip, no glue involved.

These are great grips. I had one problem. My 1911 has a ambi safety. I didn't realize it till I split my first set while installing them. If you have a ambi safety you will need to sand down the inside of the right grip about a 1/8 of a inch deep, in a half inch square. Then your grip will not split when you tighten down the screws. and your safety will still work normaly

The wood panels are very attractive but the rubber insert is cheap crap; one of my medallions also fell off and had to be replaced. The Hogue finger-groove grip is much better made and is thicker and does not slide around on the front strap like the Pachmayr finger grooves.

Yep - great looking grips. Comfortable to shoot too. Just know up front the madallions WILL come off!! Add two bucks to the cost of these for a tube of glue. Great other than that though.

good grips.

I'm a big fan of Pachmayr made grips have this set on my springfield 1911, and 2 sets on a couple of revolvers. At first glance it looked like Pachmayr lowered their quality and it looked cheap but after i put them on it looks great and very comfortable. No other gun in the world will fit as well as a 1911 but I have to say these grips make it even nicer. P.S. buying laser grips is a waste of money and they are really impractical. Iron sights will never run out of batteries or break down.

Great grip!

Put these on my Rock Island 1911 and have been very pleased. Really stabilized the gun in my grip and is just a lot more comfortable to shoot. I haven't encountered any problems with the medallions yet but will probably pry mine off and re-attach with gorilla glue just to be sure. Really enhanced the looks of my gun (a secondary thought, but still nice to get out of the deal). I was really looking for a more stable grip for my .45 and got it with these grips. Would recommend them to any 1911 owner.

These fit my Para SSP great and look beautiful. I had no issues with fit and so far stand up to firing. They really feel great in my hand as well.

These are great on my Rock Island Armory 1911. The wood looks great and these provide (in my opinion) a more firm grip than the "Hogue Grip 1911 Full Size Soft Rubber Cobblestone" I had before.

Great looking grip, but has one flaw.

Pros: These grips come with heavy grained, beautiful wood panels with a smooth satin finish and will spruce up the appearance of your 1911 while adding finger grooves for comfort and control. The rubber is soft but not spongy. The medallions are smooth and recessed enough so you won't feel them. Fit is good (at least on my Series 70 Gold Cup) and the softer rubber around the front strap should lessen grip fatigue during long range sessions. Cons: Contrary to what another reviewer said, the medallions are NOT attached by a screw; the small hex screw on the opposite side of the medallion is used only for attaching the upper part of the rubber wrap around to the wood panels. The medallions cover the screw holes and are glued on, so if they haven't become detached, it can appear as if they are being held on by the this screw. Right after I finished attaching the grips to my 1911, the right medallion detached from the rubber. It looks like Pachmayr uses a super glue to hold them in place, so I think they would have eventually come loose anyway after some firing when the hard factory glue cracks from recoil shock. This is a design flaw; while the rubber part of the grip can flex, the metal medallions do not and can crack the hard glue, especially if not enough was used in the manufacturing process. My recommendation is to remove both medallions and use GE Silicone II glue (some recommend Gorilla Glue but I have never used it) to re-attach them -- hold them in place with tape for 24 hours -- the medallions will now be held firmly in place and will not detach even when flexed or shocked since the silicone glue is flexible when cured. Worked great for me. If you have already lost a medallion contact Pachmayr and they will send a replacement. Conclusion: I bought these grips to replace a pair of hard, 20+ year old Pachmayr Signature Series grips and love the way they look and feel. Also bought some Hex-Head Grip Screws (GNS093), they really make for a nice and neat looking finishing touch. They're not cheap, but don't look for these hex or even slotted head screws in your local hardware store, these are a very specialized size of screw (6mm x 4mm, 50 pitch thread). If you like the feel of rubber grips but still want the look of wood, these grips are for you.

These Grips Have Improved..

I have the newer version of these grips (that has a small hex screw to hold the medallions on). The wood is very pretty, but will need to be notched (with an X-acto knife) to clear an ambidextrous safety if you 1911 has one. While I like these grips, mine have 2 flaws. First one of the medallions is crookedly mounted and digs into my palm (when fired from my weak hand). Second, the rubber section that wraps around the front-strap is "baggy" at the top and has too much space behind it. I plan to remedy this by filling the back of the finger-notched rubber with some black silicone RTV and mounting the grip (to the gun) over some saran-wrap. Once cured, I'll remove the saran wrap and the RTV should cure the "loose" rubber fit. They are better that earlier versions I'd heard about, but if Pachmayr payed more attention to detail, they have a first-rate grip.

I read the prior comments on these grips. I have purchased this brand (Pachmayr)before and was always pleased with them, so I decided to try them out. The metal medallions on mine are actually held on by a hex head screw from the back. There was no glue to come loose. And, the only screw that holds the rubber portion in place, is the actual grip screw on the lower part of the grip. So, some lock-tite may take care of all these problems if they do exist. The wood itself is very nice looking and well formed.

I bought these and the first range trip resulted in the small screw that attaches the rubber to the right grip panel falling out somewhere. Now the rubber is trying to seperate from the wood. These grips look nice but they are very cheaply constructed. Buyer beware.

Beautiful Grip, shame that they decided to cheapen it up by barely gluing on the medallions, mine came off the first time I shot it and I lost one before realizing how flimsey they were, now my grips look tacky without one medallion.... if you buy make sure to pry off medallion and re-glue with super glue

Grip looks great on my 1911 and is comfortable. If you have an ambidextrous safety, motification in required for the right panel (save your old grips to use a template).
