I bought a few different types of throwers to learn basic knife throwing. The lighter weight knives were too flimsy and difficult to control. These 10.5" knives have a good weight, nice balance, and a solid construction. They are easy to sharpen and hold up under the punishment of a novice (i.e., the knives can hit the dirt or a stone several times and still work). On a final note, I took three of these to Iraq with me to keep in practice.
