Nice Swords!, 06/08/2008 |

| Alright so they aren't the sharpest. But thats easily looked past, especially since I got mine razor sharp in 1/2 an hour. The sheath is pathetic tho. Very difficult to get the swords back in but I know a little trick. Ok step one: Tracing. Get your swords and some thin cardboard and trace the blade all the way across do this twice. Step 2: Cut your trace. Simple really.. cut out what you've just traced. Step 3: Dock and sheath Take 2 pieces of the cut cardboard and sheath them. If it doesn't fit perfectly dock a little here and there till they fit. (also do this about 1 inch from the top of the sheath to avoid the noticeability of the cardboard)
Once the cardboard sword traces are in slip your sword between each piece of the cardboard. Presto no more blades getting caught in your nylon. By the way. If you are good with wood you can do the same it will stiffen the sheath and make for enhanced durability of the sheath. I did all the maintenance (Sharpen and Cardboard Sheathing) in 1.5 hrs. |

| really good sword but it needed alot of sharpening and the wrapping on the small sword came undone.its pretty hard to put the sword in the sheath but it is a great sword. |

| I love this set! I just got it today, and its really amazing. the handle wrappings come undone, but with a little glue and some re-tyeing they stay on really well. I love the desighn of the blade, and the weight of it. both are really great. the sheath, is somthing that begs improvment. but for the money its a really great buy |

| This is a really cool set. The looks are spot on and the finish is much better than the price would let you think. Love it, thanks for the deal! |
Very Nice for the Price, 02/26/2008 |

| You really can't go wrong for $20. As has been said, the blades need to be sharpened, which can easily be accomplished with a grinder or a mill file. A clear coat of polyurethane or shellac helps tighten down the handle webbing. The sheath is crap, the points of the swords always get caught in the nylon as you try to put them back in. I have gotten the smaller blade back in once since getting it. But for real, $20? Can't beat that. |

| Note these blades come unsharpened. The powder-coated stainless steel does seem to take something of an edge, but be prepared for some work, even if you have an electric grinder (try the lawnmower blade sharpener attachment for your Dremel). The nylon scabbard is pretty cheesy, and the blades themselves are just single pieces of stamped steel with nylon cord wrapping on the grips. They're not much, but the price is just about right. |
simplicity at it's best, 03/16/2007 |

| I bought two of the ranger double sword sets. the only thing i found that was not perfect on these simple short swords was the wrapping on the handle. it was a bit loose.( but easily fixed by brushing the cloth wrapping with water based clear polyeurathane same as they use on furniture and floors) older swords were treated with shallac, on the cloth sections of handles and scabbbards.
The two longer swords are great for practicing two handed techniques.
With one of the tanto blades I removed the wrapping on the handle, drilled two holes in the handle section and mounted it on medium length oak staff. pinned and wrapped the joint. The designs of the blades make fitting them to staffs simple and very sucure.
So for the price of two double ranger sword sets I can practice
sword with sword
sword with tanto
sword with bladed staff
tanto with bladed staff
Great deal if you ask me! |
