This is an excelent canteen. This canteen is great for many things. It is an exact copy of the canteens used by our troops in the Vietnam War up until now (Except for the black canteen cover, all the troops have green). It is a very stirdy plastic but the only problem about that is that u cant boil the water in it. What i recommend to do is to buy a canteen cup along with this so u can boil your water. plus the cup will fit write into the cover!!! The cover is great and VERY strong. I am a Vietnam War reenacter and i have a canteen and cover just like this (except my cover is OD green) and i have used it in every reenactment. I have fallen on it, constantly abused it and it still looks like new. Its great. I recomend it to reenacters, hikers, campers, ect. P.S. If you are wondering what that little pocket on cover is for, its made to hold a little bottle full of Water Purification Tablets. Its great if your camping and u run out of water. Just go to a near by stream, fill up your canteen, put to tablets in, shake, and enjoy.

It can hold water... thats all it can do and it doesn't do a good job of that. The case holds water for a long time when it gets wet and since it is plastic you cannot boil water in it. For a seal, the manufacturer put a foam disk in the top. Soon, it began to mold under it even if it is cleaned and left open. So, I removed the disk, now it doesn't seal and water leaks all over. Save your money, buy something decent.
