I purchased what seemed to be the "last" of these and will have to use them with "caution" simply because they 'look' exactly like all the rest of my FMJ ammo but they do use a Steel core and give excellent penetration in hard surface targets.

If in doubt as to the jacketing of a bullet, place a magnet on the bullet.See if it responds. In the case of the XM80...it will. The round is "copper gilded" steel. The coppering protects the barrel from making contact with the steel of the bullet.

I haven't shot these yet -- just received them -- but they are COPPER jacketed, as the photo shows, not steel. It's still a decent price on this ammo, but the description ought to be marked properly.

I shot 80 rounds of this stuff through my M1A and not a single misfire/load or wild shot. Shoots pretty clean too.

Great Ammo!

This is great U.S. surplus military ammo... shoots straight and cycles without any errors through my M1A/M14.

I used this ammo(Federal 7.62)with my SOCOM 16 no problem with feeding and extraction. I used Winchester 7.62 for my SOCOM16 and had problems with extraction. I'll buy more before it runs out
