My WASR 10/63 gets a good diet of these and they have never failed me yet, no misfires no duds and is always dead on where I need it to go. This is great practice ammo. It is a bit dirty but who doesn't like to clean their guns? I find it relaxing and it gives me a reason to scare my daughter’s guy friends away who come over. This is great ammo

This ammo is good as long as the gun stays cool. They like to stick when it gets hot because of the steel. If you're not going to shoot like a mad man, then get this ammo. It works fine. I didn't have 1 misfire out of 500 just a stovepipe when I started going crazy!

Great Ammo. It's accurate and cycles perfectly. I opted for the Wolf ammo over the Fiocchi, and Winchester because I'm shooting from my Russian Black Gun (SAIGA). I'm Marine Corps trained on how to shoot and clean - and after shooting the Wolf, my rifle is no worse to clean than some of my crew serve weapons way back in the days. Keep your gear and weapons clean, this ammo will do you proud. At 50, 75 and 100 meter groups are tight and small. Again - great ammo.

I have been using this ammo for years in different AK's and I haven't have a single failure that I remember. Ruger owners, maybe the issue is your guns (with all due respect and with no offense). Some don't perform really well. I know from my own experience that very famous brands (like Kimber for example) don't always make good products. I exchanged my two Kimber 45s for two XD's and because the Kimbers I used to own gave me all kind of problems firing hollow points rounds. Just buy an AK and you will notice the difference!!!!

I have used various brands of 7.62x39 for an old SKS I recieved. Until I sold it last year this was the preferred general use round. It offered consistent groups out to 150 yards easily, and has a great expansion for the round it is. The lead will separate from the jacket, but for the most part, it is an acurate round with a nasty expansion.

The affordability of the rounds is awesome! I have a Geogian made SKS, and starting out firing fine. But once I really start putting rounds down range, the barrel heated up the polymer coating from the rounds. It melted in the chamber causing the rifle to jam. It's kind of ironic that Russian made rounds don't work properly in an SKS.

This ammo cant be beat for the price. No misfires and very clean. Any AK could eat hundreds of rounds of this stuff before needing a cleaning, and even then probably wouldnt really NEED it. Fires great and very consistant grouping, comparable to other expensive brands of ammo. The only issue I had (and this is no fault of the ammo or the manufacturer, just personal preference) is that the round is steel core. My local Range will not allow any bullet containing steel in the projectile. They go as far to consider any round like this to be armor piercing which had me laughing at the guys when thier supposed to be professional range masters. So check your local range first and dont waste your time at Delaware ranges, I hate having to use them to shoot my guns but dont have a choice. But the product is great and recommend to all AK owners!

This is great for target practice and home defense. Read the other comments to see what gun you have and if you should be shooting this, but it just plain works. It is not a HUNTING round though. On smaller than deer animals its clean through, no expansion and mostly lost game. On deer it does do damage and will kill them, but if you miss the double lung, you will lose the deer, the small entry and exit wounds just do not produce enough blood trail. And, the shocking power does not exist.

Wolf Hp, contrary to common belief dose not expand due to the bimetal jacket unless it hits a solid object, the rounds do in fact flatten out and tumble once they hit flesh though. This tumble effect makes them even more deadly in my opinion because of the shear effect they have on organs and arteries. This is not my choice in defense ammo, but good incase of scenario 114B: Zombie apocalypse, this would be my choice.

This cheap ammunition is dirty and works fine in foreign guns. My AK and SKS love them. The Berdan primers are filthy and you will have to clean you gun well after every hundred rounds or so if you value your gun's longevity. Also do not fire these rounds through any American receiver. No American receiver is designed for a steel case and you will find out the hard way what will happen if you use this cheap stuff in it.

My AK eats these up great. I do reload, but sometimes I just get lazy. If you shoot a Mini-14, I do not recommed shooting these. Do a little research. The projectile is a .311 and the crappy Mini-14 has a .308 barell. You are taking your life in your own hands. Also, if you shoot an AK, I do not recommend shooting Winchester or R-P. They are .308 and you have a .311 barell on both the AK and the SKS. If you have been shooting them, and have not blown the bolt on your Mini-30, you have been lucky. I would not push it though.

This ammo was made to be fired out of "military" firearms. Such as AK, sks. The hard primer, many times, fails to fire from Mini 30s as well as single shot rifles, such as H&R, and rossi. For AKs or sks, you cant get a more affordable ammo. Have shot thousands of rounds through my Aks and never had a misfire. Also have taken numerous groundhogs, as well as coyotes with this ammo. I have shot Winchester, Remington, and Golden Bear. Wolf's hollow point is great. I have shot my last 3 deer and 2 Buffalo with great results. I live in an area that open sight shooting is the standard. These are dead on at 100 yards. I have shot over 200 rounds of this through my Yugo SKS and have never had a jamb or miss fire. This type of round is not very dirty. By the way the Buffalo were shot at 60 yards and the first shot dropped both. They were through and through shots on both, in fact the first buffalo had the bullet go through the chest and lodge in the opposite leg. Would I recomend shooting buffalo all the time with this? No. The buffalo were causing harm to people and property and had to be put down. This type of round is great on deer and stops them dead in their tracks. I would hate to see what it would do to my local Coyotes.

The only this I don't like about this ammo is that its very very dirty. Thank You CheaperThanDirt.com Also I have learned that when purchasing from CTD if you will buy only one item in bulk the shipping charges are not bad and does not go up much, but you can buy 2 different items and the shipping charges double. Bought in bulk a while back both the SP and HP from Wolf. As mentioned in a previous post, I had occasional issues with the HP as well feeding. It just seemed to catch when feeding and jam up. But as the other individual did, I just put it back in again and it feed through fine the second time. At the price they are, for just plinking it is still a great deal. However, if it is for more than plinking where a jam could cause any serious issues I recommend the SP over the HP. As long as you properly maintain your weapon, you shouldn't have any problems using this ammo, I buy it again and again for both my SKS and AK.

I have a Yugoslavian M70 Ak-47, I always run Wolf ammo through this thing. I've never had a problem with misfires. When i pay for 20 rounds, i get to shoot 20 everytime. The ammo does seem to be slightly dirty over that of some other more expensive brands, but cleaning it is no problem. I can achieve 2 MOA @ 100 yards which i consider pretty good for an AK, but the Yugo M70 is one of the better ones. The enemy or game animal is not going to know the difference between a center shot or 2 inchs off center of a major organ, i would ask one of them, but this ammo seems to kill with one shot everytime so i can't. So overall the Pro's are accurate, cheap, powerful, and Con's are little bit dirty, but im not a clean freak so it's not a Con to me.

For bulk storage or pracitce plinking it is OK but for serious shooting I recomind S&B it is all brass, reloadable and comes in FMJ and soft point rounds. I have 10,20, and 30 round mags for my mini 30 and this ammo won't feed after the first shot with any of the extra cap mags. It's not the Ruger, it's brand new. I also have a chinese Norinco SKS and this ammo jams in those extra cap mags too. Works great with the ten round internal mag. I'll stick to the Remington ammo for the Ruger. Too bad it won't work in the Ruger extra cap mags, cause it's cheap, and half the fun of cheap ammo is the fun emptying a 30 rounder.

Wolf ammo is probably the best 7.62 for the price you pay. All Russian ammo works perfectly in all Russian and its varient rifles. Some might have problems with the ruger minis but thats because russian ammo is designed for russian weapons. The only other ammo that is better than wolf at a better price would be the soviet ammo or the yugo or romanian hotshot, even bulgarian. But these are rare. Wolf is based on the same recipe and factory setting as soviet factory type. My conclusion being if you have an ak or sks this ammo is perfect. If this ammo doesnt work well in you ak or sks then you got a rare bad batch or your rifle sucks because you dont clean it. -Mike G

Excellent rounds! The batch I got had a laquer coating which gummed up my receiver... but no to much a quick cloth wipe couldnt fix. CTD has a very good price. Ive seen these rounds go for 3.99 a box at a lot of other sites and 2.99 a box in catalogues. But usually gun shops and shows sell if for about 6.99 a box so CTD has an alright price. As for the complaints about ruger minis. Russian ammunition works the best for russian type clone weapons. If you ruger mini has problems by winchester or remmington 7.62 The only other ammunition that is better around the same price is Romainian Hot shot military grade. But of course you can only buy 100+ at a time. Russian hollow and soft point seem to be of equale to wolf in fact they are from the same clearing house as wolf. Be aware old ammunition has a tendacey to misfire so if you buy bulk ammo make sure you check out the seal. As for my conclusion. Wolf is the best for the money you pay for it. It is made using the classic soviet recipes and put together by wolf's advanced clearing house factories.

Out of all of the other sites I checked, and I checked them all. Don't even think about a sporting goods store unless you have money coming out your rear. Cheaper Than Dirt has the best prices and in stock items that I could find. Their selection of ammo is extensive and as Bob would say, THE PRICE IS RIGHT. The other sites I checked out had a very limited stock of WOLF AMMO for a 7.62x39 HP round, and even if they did carry it , it was out of stock and more expensive. Most sites didn't even carry a 10 round clip, (mandatory in California) but I did find it here and in stock, not only that it was a lot cheaper than anywhere else I looked. I can't say enough about them. Their service is great, the rep knew exactly what I needed and was very pleasent to talk too. Nothing like some of those other sales rep's with a pimple face, stick up their rear ends who couldn't find it with both hands, who think a gun case is the zipper on their pants. I highly recomend Cheaper Than dirt, even to my enimies, at least I would get a good fight lol. All in all, it was a pleasure doing business with them. I am old school prior service, expert shot. I know what I'm looking for and need, so does Cheaper Than Dirt. Highly recomended!!!!

I bought 400 rounds of Brown Bear 125-grain Soft Point. I'm shooting the stuff out of an 18-inch barreled RPK. For the life of me, I can't get the rounds to group at 100 yards or even a closer 50 yards. I've scoped my shot and used iron sights. I've bagged and used a shooting sling. I've even removed my muzzle brake thinking it must be the muzzle brake. In comparison, I have an M1A that can group heavier .308 with rounds touching at 100 yards using basic iron sights and Wolf's Silver Bear. Now, that is ammo I can really vouch for! Anyone care to back me up on this Brown Bear 7.62x39? Refute my claim? Verify or tell me your story? How does the other Wolf ammo in 7.62x39 stand up with grouping at 100 yards?

Solid, Decent Ammo

I've fired in excess of 10,000 rounds of this ammo, in both FMJ and HP. While not having the best Standard velocity Deviation, it is reliable. I submit that most of the malfuctions described in this review section are a result of faulty magazines/weapons. While we have experienced a few failures to ignite (primer solidly crushed without firing) this is rare, and it can happen with domestic ammo as well. We have had the Mini-30 fail to feed this stuff occasionally, but with the factory Ruger magazine it is decent. AKs, and SKSs, in good condition with the proper magazine will feed this with exceptionally good reliability. One AK we used in long-term testing has fired over 7,000 rounds with no more than a handful of malfunctions, without ever cleaning any portion of the gas system (barrel bore and bolt only). A double stack magazine-type rifle that misfeeds every 2nd round is a dead giveaway for a bent feed lip on the magazine, and no fault of the ammo. An SKS with non-matching magazine is often unreliable. Of my 5 SKSs, the reliable ones have all matching numbers, and are as reliable as any self-loader on the market, using this ammo. I give it 4 bullets because it is well worth the excellent price.

The steel case chews up my Hbar extractors. I would not use this in a rifle that costs more than $300. About 5% of the rounds jam in my SKS. Use this at your own risk!!!!!!!!!!!

With wolf ammo I have never had an issue with any jams or miss feeds. I recently purchase winchester 7.62x39 for my Romanian AK and every 2nd bullet jammed. As soon as I removed the jam I put 30 rounds of wolf through the gun without any issues. I will never make the mistake of buying different ammo. Wolf all the way.

this Wolf ammo is basically unpredictable. some come out of the barrel like gangbusters and then some barely blow the bolt back. the primers are very hard and my SKS shoots them pretty well. But they will not fire repeat will not fire in the ruger mini 30s .

This is solid, reliable ammo. I have a Yugo SKS that I use these cartidges in and I have had no malfunctions due to ammo. I get very poor accuracy shooting these cartridges (8" at 50yrds), but I think that it can be attributed mainly to the gun because it is a cheap $100 parts gun and no serial numbers match. I think that accuracy would be just fine in a gun in good condition. Best part is: CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP.

I have put Wolf ammo through my 9mm, .45ACP, .308, .223Rem and 7.62x39 my Romanian AK eats both the polymer and laquer like candy. Never a misfire or jam, and its dirt cheap even with the price increases. I have heard the pros and cons of steel cased ammunition, and for me the jury is still out on the other calibres such as .223 and pistol ammo. But for the 7.62x39, there is no question that for the price, you can do absolutely no better!

My SKS's love this stuff. Never had a misfire or feed problems. I have used this and the older laquer stuff and both work great. I never liked the laquer coating in my non-commie guns as it would build up in the extractor and sometimes in the chamber if it got hot enough. But for the price it cannot be beat.

This ammo shoots great.I run it through my ak,no malfunctions and would rate accuracy at 500 yds to be right on the heels of the .223 remington with equal open sights.Great price for reliability.
