Semi-dirty ammo. My ar won't cycle properly w/ it. I tried several different mags. Cleaned it twice to try to fix, left it dry once and soaked it in oil once and still had problems. 50% fail to load. No fail to fires though. I have no problems w/ my Remington ammo. But, although my rifle won't cycle w/ brown bear my friend's ar did just fine w/ it. I would love to buy more ammo at this price but can't justify using my ar as a single shot. If I had not seen it cycle cleanly in another ar right beside mine I would have given this ammo a 1 at best just b/c it is cheap. But, since it is super cheap and comes well packaged it deserves better than that.

Good, not great.

I haven't had any issues with this, but I haven't taken it to the range. I've only used it to kill some old computers. Out of 260 rounds, I only had one misfeed. I think that was because of deformed feed lips, though. The only gripe I have so far is that it is dirty. Maybe I was spoiled by the ammo in the military, but its kind of a pain to clean. Not really a big deal at all, though.

I bought a couple of boxes to try out in my Bushmasters. It's not that dirty. It feeds well and shoots fine in both guns. Just received the case I ordered and it arrived in 3 days. This was the 3rd order from Cheaper Than Dirt and I've not had any problems with my orders.

I recently ordered 15 boxes of fmj and 11 boxes of the 62 gr hp. The shipping was ridiculously fast (less than 24hrs from order to door). I was one box short so I called customer service and with no problems I had the box of ammo the very next morning. I am satisfied with the service and the product. Thank you CTD I'll be ordering from you again soon.

I only ordered 5 boxes just to try out. I have been shooting PMC and I am satisfied but I wanted to see if saving some $$ would be worth it. This ammo is good...my Ruger SR556 went through 60 rounds of it no problem, with the last of them at high tempo with regular magazines and TangoDown synthetic as well. And this was after about 200 rounds of PMC. It is more accurate than I thought, although I can see the difference. I did notice that it smelled funky but no big deal. But it does seem to leave a bit more dirt on the bore than brass or copper. Which doesn't matter to me since I have a piston rifle, and my bolt assembly is still pretty much spotless! Overall, its good cheap ammo to stock up on and shoot every now and then. I would not shoot it constantly, just because I have a nice rifle and I want to play nice with it...but I will sure keep some of this on hand for a change of diet.

Like most others have said this stuff is dirty, but there is no sacrifice in accuracy from what I have seen. My Stag Arms Model 2 eats this stuff right up, and held a perfect group. Just clean your gun after your done shooting and you won't have a problem. Great Practice ammo!

I've been shooting Brown Bear, Golden Bear and Silver Bear in my new Bushmaster and S&W M4's for the last few months. I've had no jams and no problems with this ammo. I will say that the 55 gr Brown Bear gives me the best accuracy out of my guns. The 62 gr Silver Bear gives me about a 20% larger group and unfortunately I used up all of my Golden Bear training new shooters so I don't remember what kind of accuracy I got from that stuff. It's all been good plinking ammo and I'll keep buying more. By the way, I put 500 rnds through both the Bushmaster and S&W with no cleaning and even though this stuff is considered dirtier than American ammo I've had no problems.

I bought a thousand rounds and intend to by more. It shoots very well in my AR parts gun. No jams no malfunctions of any kind. I found the accuracy acceptable. The stuff is dirty to shoot but that is a minor annoyance.. Shoot more and be happy...

Bought this as an affordable way to shoot my Bushy and DPMS AR. Feeds great, no jams, perfect range fun ammo. Shot side by side using two AR's. Just as accurate and smooth as the Federal and S&B brass. Even with shipping, I cannot buy ammo locally for less, if you can even find any .223. Shame on anyone who doesnt give this 5 bullets. Do your homework, dont mix brass and steel, clean your gun. This is 25 cents a bullet. You want great, buck up and pay a dollar a bullet and buy some Hornady. At the end of the day they all end up is some dirt mound.

I've always heard bad things about steel casings so i only bought 200 rounds. This ammo worked great i didn't have any misfires or jams. After 200 rounds my barrel really wasn't even dirty. This is good reliable clean and cheap ammo.

I've fired over 500 rounds of brown bear through my Target Mini-14 with no jams at all. Getting 1 inch groups at 50 yards and softball sized ones at 100. Obviously not the most accurate stuff out there but you can't beat it for the price.

Not bad for what it is. I've ran wolf and brown bear through my AK-47 for years without any issues, but just now ran 100 rounds of brown bear through my DPMS AR15, not a single jam or mis-feed. It is about as accurate as Remington but not near as good as Hornaday but for the price tag, it can’t be beat. It is smokier and dirtier then the US made stuff, but clean your rifle and it will run it.

It depends...

It all depends on the gun. I use this ammo for my SU-16ca, it loves it. The better the gun, you should use brass, but you gotta clean your guns people. The coating on the steel will stay in your barrel, the longer you leave it in there the harder it is to clean. If you have a bad-ass AR or a Mini -14, use a better round.

Finding it difficult to find ammo in my local vicinity I bought 140 rounds of this stuff. I zeroed my holo sight using good ole American brass and everything was lovely. I then switched to Brown Bear for some target shooting and my shots were consistently 4 inches low. The ammo proved good enough to shoot bowling pins up to 50 yards using a holo sight with no magnification but for pinpoint accuracy I'll stick with my good friends Remington and Winchester.

After eeading the posted reviews I tried one box at first to amke sure the ammo worked well in my rifle (Bushmaster). I tried one box and noticed that it cycled without issue. Accuracy was better than expected and so 2000 rounds ordered later. This will be shipped in regular cardboard box's, however it can easily be downloaded into an ammo can for longer term storage. I highly suggest this ammo for the price!

I have shot 500 rounds of wolf and about 300 rounds of brown bear and by far brown bear is much more accurate and much cleaner than wolf is. The lacquered casing the brown bear hosts is extremely Superior to the extremely dirty wolf casing. I've had serveral jams with wolf ammunition due to the case lubrication and heat issues but next to brass with the lacquered casing there were ZERO jams in my Saiga .223 !!!! RECOMMENDED against wolf!!!!!!!!!

Shot thousands of rounds of this stuff through 2 different AR's. Not a single problem. If yours is jamming I suggest cleaning the bore, steel doesn't expand like brass and fouling becomes an issue. Its not the laquer!

I ran roughly 400rnds of this ammo through my bushmaster xm15 with no problems. A3 open sights at 200 yards I was within my target, maybe with a sandbag and less wind I could've gotten better. Just like wolf ammo, it's alittle filthy so be sure to clean your rifle down when you're done. I also use this ammo in my wasr10, great all around ammo for plinking or defense. For the price you just can't beat it. Buy them up while you can! God bless America

No room to complain with this ammunition. Fired a few hundred rounds at the range. Using an open sighted DPMS at 100 yards the Brown Bear, UMC Remington, and PMC, there were no difference in accuracy. Most groups hovered around 1 1/2" to 2". Never experienced a malfunction either. The only two downfalls are the steel cased so no reloading, and the powder quality is not as good. You will need to clean more often, other than that I don't see any reason to buy anthing more expensive to plink with or use for self defense. Simply unless your gun won't reliably fire this ammunition.

I put about 200 rounds today through my DPMS A-15 and it worked great but the ammo does get a bit smokey after a few rounds especially when rapid firing, and I find myself having to wait a few seconds to continue. Its not bad for the price and accuracy isn't bad as well. Good ammo for target shooting.
