I have owned M16's and AR 15's, and it doesn't matter what ammo you put through them, they missfire. But I now have a Mini 14, and I use the wolf ammo with no complaints. I use my mini 14 and mini 30 for pest control on my farm, and I use the wolf ammo in both, and the bullet goes where I intend for it to go. The mini 14 has a 2-7X33 Leupold scope, and I can get great results at 200 yds. So I don't know why people like to say that it is accurate enough. It's accurate, period!

There are many cleaner brands to choose from but when i go to full auto shoots the volume is what counts, not if it is accurate. The wolf line serves its purpose well for what it is. Great ammo for high volume shooting, excellent ammo when I run it in any FA gun. Cycles well broken in guns some reviews here say guys want to shoot it in a brandnew AR good luck with that, but for non-stop machine guns its just fine.

I bought 500 rounds of this stuff to fire through my Armalite AR-15 and had a lot of problems with cycling. I went to an army buddy of mine to look things over and did a few minor upgrades to my weapon and fired 100 rounds straight with this stuff without a single failure. My suggestion for those using the AR is get a DPMS 1 Piece gas ring ($3.25) and some CLP Breakfree Cleaner/Lube before you fire this stuff. It's not super accurate but you can burn through a lot of rounds before you catch up to the price you'll be paying for the other stuff.

Shot this ammo in my new FN FS2000. Gas Tubes have a 2 position selector for "Normal Ammo" or Lower Pressure Ammo. On the Normal setting this ammo did not feed well at all. You would have to manually rack a new round in almost every time. At the flip of the switch to the Low pressure setting (keeping more pressure in the gas system) it worked great. Flawless. Ripped off 30 rapid rounds at a time no problem. This leads me to believe that most of the fail to feed problems with this ammo are due to the lower pressures that this ammo produces. This is no LAKE CITY SS109 thats for sure. This is Cheep Fun Stuff if your gas system will operate on it. IF your AR Does not feed well on it maybe you could try using a weaker buffer spring. Thus requiring less pressure to operate the bolt. If any one will give it a shot, Let me know how it works for you.

Hey! Check it out, it is cheap ammo. Some colts wont eat it, some will. Mini-14's eat it all. Colt clones should eat it all. But for the price how can you complain? How can i reduce feeding failures you ask? CLEAN YOUR GUNS! CLEAN YOUR GUNS! CLEAN YOUR GUNS! Check your magazines, strip them every once and a while and clean them with warm water and a little dishsoap. Hey if you are an experienced shooter than you know this already! AR-15's can be picky about ammo but the wolf stuff is not to blame. Good price, decent ammo, decent groupings, and a satisfied customer here! Also customer service is excellent. Still complaining? Buy a .22!

If anyone has a problem with this ammo, they should be blaming their gun and not the ammo.. Shoots as good as the more expensive stuff, but for half of the price or less.. Never had a bad round in the 223, or the 762x39.. I will continue to buy this ammo on a regular basis..

I blazed through 300 rounds at the range yesterday. Only had one bad round. Groupings were tight at 100 yards. Satisfied with performance but clean-up is a problem. Inexpensive ammunition, decent performance, extra effort to clean. I shoot a Bushmaster lower with a LaRue Tactical upper. Reliable ammunition makes for an enjoyable day at the range.

This ammo is not bad for its price. I shot 100 rounds straight of wolf with a Ruger mini 14 with out any jams. The only bad thing about this ammo is the clean up after a day of shooting, witch i do not mind at all.

The quality of this ammo is very poor. I purchased 500 rounds and shot maybe 30 of them. Every 10 rounds it would jam one of the rounds. I would never buy this product again.

Read a few reviews here and elsewhere over the years. My experience has be quite good using this newer polymer coated wolf. I have shot about 10,000+ rds. of this poly coated ammo, both FMJ and HP in both 55 and 62gr. Accuracy is not the best, (but OK) nor is the power level(mid-range) and it is not as clean(slightly more carbon fouling) as most other ammo brands out there. Wolf ammo in .223 is not "the best", it's not the worst either. It has it's place when you look at it's cost, great for plinking, blasting, practice or basic shooting drills. All of my weapons shoot wolf without any problems, (as well as other ammo brands) some even prefer it. Sadly I must say if your particular weapon doesn't use/shoot wolf, perhaps you should get one that does (high $$ doesn't always = better). Looking at a SHTF scenerio, realistically you may NOT get to choose what ammo is going to be available for your rifle, having a combat/defensive oriented weapon thats finicky with it's ammo selection is a SERIOUS LIABILITY, (DM rifles do not apply). Get a weapon that can shoot/cycle all the different brands of ammo, clean it/keep it clean and enjoy twice as much shooting with wolf brand ammo vs. MIL or commercial brands. Sorry some of you got hosed buying weapons that can't cycle everything you feed it.. I hope it doesn't bite you in the rear when it counts. Thanks for offering Wolf brand ammo CTD!

Cleaning – that’s all you’ll need to shoot this ammo. So, stop complaining, Soldier; just get your cleaning gear and go ahead! Don’t forget the chamber and the gas tube or the gas port and the piston if you shoot an AK-style rifle. Clean very thoroughly: two blasts of the “Powder Blast” would not do the job. After cleaning, usually comes the oiling. Don’t forget bout it. You’ll see the difference.

this kind of round worked well for me for a time. after shooting 1000 rounds from my kel-tec it was doing kind of well, then after about 40 rounds the spent shell would get jamed and i had to use a ramrod to get the thing out. now i am turning to brass cased ammo, if u know what steel cased ammo will do for you then this is your round. if not then buy somthing else.

I purchased 200 rounds of the wolf 62 gr and had nothing but problems with this ammo. I was shooting the ammo in my brand new S&W M&P AR-15 and had nothiing but failure after failure to pick up the next round. The ammo also had a number of issues with expanding in the chamber and would not extract causing me to have to ram the spent round out with a rod. I would not recomend this ammo to any one due to all of the problems I have had.

I just wanted to give Wolf Ammo a deserved kudo. I bought 40 boxes of 223 from you. Before I could shoot the first box, my brand new Ruger Target Ranch Rifle jammed and I could not get the case to eject. I learned from its seller and a gunsmith friend that I could get the case out with a cleaning rod, and did. When I contacted Wolf, they sent me a shipping label for UPS and allowed me to return 39 boxes - and sent me a refund for what I had paid. True to their word...and they should be applauded. This ammo is decent, although you do have to match the ammo with your rate of twist. The 55 gr. will not group like the 62gr, but I do have a 1:9 twist. Dont expect this ammo to print sub moa at 100 yards. This ammo is for rockin' & rolling and it is a litte dirty. If you want to kill, use tactical ammo. I would not bet my life on the functionality of this ammo. It is very possible this ammo will operate flawlessly in most cases, its the one incident I am worried about. Dependability of ammo is truly tested under combat situations.

I have shot well over 1000 rounds of this ammo through my Bushmaster AR-15 and Have similar wolf ammo for my Century AK-47 Both guns handly this ammo well and it shots great. I throughly clean my guns. Out of all the wolf ammo I've shot I've only had problems with 3 rounds, and all of those were bad primers, cleared the weapon and was firing again. Those that say this is lousy ammo really have no clue.

I have had no trouble whatsoever with this ammo in my Saiga AK. Feeds like silk.

I have used roughly 100 rounds of wolf and this stuff is great at a 25meter 300 yard simulator i put 3 bullets in the same hole firing through my olympic arms carbine kinda dirty but rgeat ammo no jams or malfunctions highly recommended

Bushmaster states on their website under their ammunition advisory the following, and I quote "Bushmaster personnel have used the following ammunitions in various calibers for testing at the factory, and found they will cycle without malfunction and have not caused damage or problems: PMC, SPEER, REMINGTON, WINCHESTER, WOLF..." That said, I have 2 Bushmaster AR-15 style rifles and have fired Wolf ammo (55gr and 62gr) on several occasions without problems. I am very anal about cleaning and maintaining my weapons and each of my mags is lettered so if there is a feeding problem at the range I know which mag to inspect/ rebuild. With proper maintinance there is no reason this Wolf ammo will not function properly. Before faulting ammunition for your rifles malfunctions, troubleshoot your rifle and see if the extractor needs cleaned or replaced. Bad mag followers and springs are also a big cause for malfunction. I will continue to buy Wolf ammo for target shooting and plinking.

lousy ammo. despite the cheap price these are not worth the trouble. dirty, grimy stuff. worst of all the steel case will expand in your hot chamber and will not extract.

ammo was terrible it would not feed had to fire every single round individually, and on multiple occasions the caseings were not being extracted. i also bought a box of 62 grain ultramax bullets and those held under half inch groupings at 50 yards with iron sights.

This ammo is above fine. The Russians know ammo and weapons big time. The AR is a nice rifle in the best of terms. The AK however is better in all of terms when it comes to a dependable battle rifle. The AR should be able to digest trash and diamonds both but does neither as well as an AK. To blame the Wolf ammo for jams is bogus as is a poor craftsman blaming his tools. The AR is a safe queen rifle causing the problems. No jams with a mini 14 either. It is the AR. Way too moody firearm. Wolf is a great buy hands down.

Wolf ammo is great ! I have fired 4000 rds in my Colt M-4 with in the last 3 months and not one jam or problem. Aot of cleaning afterwards. Just great practice ammo.

I have shot well over 1,000 rounds of Wolf through my DPMS Panther M-4. I keep my rifle exceptionally clean. This ammo is reasonably accurate and a good deal for the price. HOWEVER, it is awfully dirty and produces a lot of smoke too. I have finally given up on using it though and here's why. I started having extraction problems where the cartridge was impossible to remove. Each time it happened I had to disassemble and ram a cleaning rod down the barrel and use significant force to eject the cartridge. This is a royal pain and I presume not healthy for the ejector either. I even replaced the entire bolt assembly and the rifle is always clean. The problem continued about every 100 rounds or so. The final straw is I found I can go to Wal-Mart and buy Remington with brass cartridges which are clean and more accurate. And when you factor in no shipping charges etc. it's a better deal per round than CTD. SO it became a no-brainer. That and I just don't like the idea of something I may bet my life on being undependable. The rifle works flawlessly with the Remington.

Great Product. I bought a Thousand Rounds Shot it through my Bushmaster No Problems What so ever. any one Getting Problems it is due to a Lack of Preventive Maintenance. Take care of your Gun and This is a Great Buy.

This is excellent ammo. The problems that people report about the poly coating fouling the chamber are incorrect. There is no coating to heat up and melt in your chamber. What is happening is that when you fire steel cased ammunition that has a dimensional difference, such as .223 Wolf in a 5.56 chamber, the steel case doesn't fully expand to seal the chamber, and you get a slight blow-back of carbon and other nastiness. If you fire a brass cased round after several boxes of Wolf, the brass expands and adheres to the carbon/chamber, and won't extract properly, if at all. You might have to use a cleaning rod to pop the case out, but that should take most of the build-up out of your chamber. Other than that, GREAT ammo for the somewhat cheaper price.

This ammo shoots with no malfunction in my Bushmaster chambered for 5.56mm NATO, BUT everytime I try to shoot brass .223 (whatever the manufacturer) the gun jams on every single round! Wierd. Whether the gun was totally clean or whether it was hot from shooting Wolf, it will jam almost on every single round. I believe there maybe something to do with the 5.56 chamber being just a tad larger so the brass casings expand just enough to confound the extraction/load process. I did manage to get my hands on brass 5.56mm ammo and that shot with no jams as good as the Wolf steel .223. Go figure.

Disadvantages Joe puts out are the steel case, and the clean up. The only difference between using a brass and steel case, is that you can't reload the steel. You shouldn't be cleaning your AR after each use, nor do you need to unless your putting down 1000 a day. P.S. 2000 rounds down and no problems with feeding or miss-fires. The Price just makes it better.

I was skeptical about wolf because of a friends remarks. I bought it anyway because of the price. I've fired right at 1000 rounds without a single malfunction. The only thing I've seen were two split cases at the neck after firing. Accuracy is very good and consistant.

Over 3000 rounds fired with only two misfires. Works great on my Bushmaster. a little dirty. Worth every pennie. I can shoot under 1MOA at 100 yards, with 14inch barrel. compared to all other ammo, and your just paying for a name. spend less have more fun. I also compete with this ammo, and yes I win every time!

Short and sweet of it...you get what you pay for. Which nowadays, is not much. Wolf shoots just fine. No misfires or problems of any kind. Still, do not expect 1MOA. Wanna rattle off several hundred rounds into the hillside? This is the stuff. BTW...if anyone tells you they have a problem with the steel case or coating, they are posers and have not shot any. They are just repeating what they've heard on the internet. And we all know how truthful THAT is right? Dont believe me? Call their BS and ask em to put theri money down against it. Easy payday.

For the money, it is less than OK. I have had numerous jams on an AR.

I PUT ABOUT 1000 RNDS THROUGH A COLT M16-A1, I EXPERIENCED EVERY TYPE OF MALFUNCTION EXCEPT A STOVEPIPE. THIS STUFF IS DIRTY, AND THE STEEL CASING WILL FOUL. THE ONLY ADVANTAGE IS IT IS THE CHEAPEST AROUND, BUT THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT. USE THIS IF YOU WANNA SHOOT, BUT DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR RIFLE.

My bushmaster shoots great using this ammo. If you have problems its more than likely your magazine or gun. The specs on this ammo is exact to most expensive ammo. It is a little dirty but not a problem to clean. For the price this stuff rocks.

excellent plinking ammo! it looks like only the Bushmasters have a problem with it!? i have been thru thousands of rounds of wolf. if it doesn't shoot in your ar-15 maybe its the GUN, and not automatically the ammo, that is the issue. i really like this stuff.

I have fired 5000+ rounds of 62 gr wolf through my bushy AR-15 & Ruger mini-14. This ammo is very consistant, only 1 dud round (so far) & is cleaner burning than all of it's similarily priced American counterparts. For the price you cant beat it!

Great ammo as always, but the jacket is no longer copper, so it is magnetic (bi-metal) like most all other wolf, just a warning.

I went through 500 rounds last weekend. My RRA chewed it up and spit it out. Great stuff for the price. If it won't function in your AR try cleaning it.

I bought a case of this stuff and I dreaded having to shoot each round. The case is made of a metal other than brass and it causes BIG feeding problems in Bushmaster or AR-15 type rifles. Additionally, the powder leaves tons of residue, which means you'll spend more time cleaning your gun after every session. Go ahead and buy a box if you don't believe me!....$4.50 is a relatively small price to pay for a big learning experience!

Around a month ago i ordered 500 rounds for my new mini-14 and have almost fired it all up with not the first moments trouble. yes it takes a little more hoppies to clean it up after, but hey for me i like cleaning my weapon after a trip to the range almost as much as shooting. so i plan on an order in the near future of 1 to 2 thousand more rounds..

this ammo is GREAT!! and best price around! my friend and i buy this stuff and have shot 1,000s of rounds not one dud! i have had duds with just about every type of ammo but this stuff... my ar-15 eats this stuff up too.... i just wish the price was back to 500 rounds for 48 bucks

You can't beat Wolf for the price. I have a pieced together AR15 and have shot hundreds of rounds of Wold .223 through it...55gr, 62gr, HP, FMJ...all of it has been 100% reliable. Accuracy is not up to match grade standards, maybe, but neither are my eyes. If you rifle can handle steel cased ammo (some, apparently are too finicky for it), buy as much of this as you can.

My experience with Wolf ammo has been pretty positive. I've run about 1000 rounds through two different AR-15's and have never had a problem. The rounds may be a little dirtier and they may not shoot as tight a grouping, but to go punch holes in paper they work just fine. For the price, I think this is a great buy.

I find this ammo to leave a lot of powder fouling. It has also caused jamming a couple of times in my 3-month old, well-maintained AR15, but as a percentage, the jamming frequency is not that high. It is, however, very accurate. So the old adage "you get what you pay for" somewhat applies to this product.

This is some dirty ammo, but it shoots well out of a weapon that setup for 5.56. It's well priced for thousand rounds buys. The one negative about this ammo is not every round is equal some are hooter than others

I have had nothing but problems with this ammo. almost every round fired became lodged in the chamber of my bush master pistol. im not sure if it's because the steel case has less "give" than brass or what, but i was very dissapointed. i have run several thousand rounds of other brands of ammo through my ar-15 without a hitch so i know its not my pistols fault. i even tried loading a round or two in the middle of magazines loaded with other ammo. every time it got to one of the steel ones it failed.

Have gone thru several thousand rounds of this ammo over the last year and have never had a problem with jams or misfires. Not sure I would use it for match shooting as it seems to wander a bit on targets. I always have a couple thousand rounds on hand.
