This is M855, SS109 Penetrator made by Igman for Military contracts around the world. This ammo was tested and approved by the US Military but was rejected as a NATO round because it was 12 Feet PerSecond too slow. This means a great bargain for you on real military contract ammunition. Each can holds 6 Bandoliers of 100 rounds each on 10 round stripper clips in 3 cartons of 30 and one carton of 10. You are buying 600 Rounds in 1 can.

Igman .223 Ammo is very high quality, manufactured in Bosnia. This is new M855 SS109 Penetrator ammo, 62 grain with new cans, strippers and bandoliers. This ammo is being used right now in Iraq and is designated penetrator ammo. This is some of the best ammo on the surplus ammo market today at a great price.

 Great Ammo, 04/28/2008
Reviewer: Doc Holliday
Reading the reviews of this ammo jamming leads me to ask 2 questions. 1) What type of garbage gun are you using, and is it in proper working order? (Assembled correctly & Cleaned). 2) What OTHER ammo does your gun jam on (cause if it jams on A LOT then its probably your RIFLE and NOT the ammo). I bought 1000 of these suckers, loaded up my Bushmaster AR-15 and took it to the woods. LOTS OF JAMS, WOW, I was mad, then I went back and looked at my rifle, the GAS BLOCK was improperly installed (never go back to that gunsmith), so after checking to make sure EVERYTHING on the rifle was correct I went back out and shot over 100 rounds on Semi Auto Fire (as fast as I could pull the trigger) and NOT ONE LOCKUP. I have to state this again, please CHECK YOUR RIFLE before complaining that something doesn't work, this ammo works JUST FINE. I'm not a EXPERT by any stretch of the imagination, so If I can figure it out, you should too.

I fired this ammo thru a heavy barrel Bushmaster 20 inch barrel into a section of railroad steel track I had. IT BLEW A 38CAL. HOLE THRU ALMOST 1/2 INCH STEEL LIKE IT WAS BUTTER !!!!! Good stuff if you need ammo that will do this.

It's about all I have shot through my mini 14 and I have been pleased w/it. No problems at all 600 rnds or so. A buddy of mine was hitting a 12" piece of card board at 200yrds his 1st time shooting my rifle. All the negative reviews must B due to cheap rifles or dirty gas tubes, clean your guns people or get a better one. I'm gonna buy more. Like a guy w/an AR said,My gun eats it like candy!

The number one cyclic problem with M-16's and variants is a double feed. They happen often, Marine Corps M-16's it often, I see it all the time. Tap, Rack, bang, that's all you need to do. Now on the other hand, Igman is pretty decent stuff. I did a ballistics test between the M193 crap and the Igman M855 ball penetrators on a copier. The 855 blew a hole or put a huge dent on the metal backing and the M193 never once made it through. Not the best price...but paramilitary stuff is high. I'd buy this if they offered free shipping.
 Igman SS109, 03/10/2008
Reviewer: Seattlefungus
This ammo works well in an AR with a 5.56X45 chambering. The internal dimensions of a 5.56X45 NATO is different than a 223. Remington SAAMI chambering. Military cases are made from thicker brass than commercial cases, which reduces the powder capacity and the NATO specification allows a higher chamber pressure. Most of the differences will effect accuracy. The SAMMI chamber has a longer leade. Which can cause the round to be unstable in flight, cause excessive wear to the bore where the leade meets the lands and groves and cause unstable pressures in the chamber. Do to the pressure related problems, it may cause problems in the gas system. In reloading these cases, it is unsafe to use the loading tables for a SAAMI round. With the dimensions being less as they are NATO Spec, this can cause a serious over pressure problem.

i just recently purchased a dpms and the guys thought it would be a good idea to buy some of this stuff .now ive red all the all the reviews and i know everybody has an opinion and thats fine . but heres the deal if you dont pay attention to what your gun feeds then your gonna get all kinds of jams and misfires . if your gun is a 223 and you try to shoot a 5.56 well thats like puttin a chainsaw spark plug in a car and thinkin its gonna run like a top.(aint gonna happen) They send owner manuals for a reason. Now im no expert but this is what i know. I spend alot of time in the scub shootin and i havnt had ANY problems with these and i have shot thousands of them ive sighted 4 scopes and to lasers in on these with no problems what so ever and thats with no cleaning for weeks on end. i do lots of youty hunting and although not the best bullet for the job im puttin them down at 300 to 500 yards away with 3 to 7 inch drop so it cant be all that bad besides if you dont like these prices go to your nearest gun shop and check out what there going for in the real world...Oh by the way these things are going through half inch steel 50 to hundred yards away concrete sinder blocks five at a time at shorter ranger .Put it this way if you gotta stop a car in the near future two or three in the block will do the trick. YALL HAVE A GREAT LIFE

BEFORE YOU BUY MAKE SURE YOUR AR CAN TAKE A 5.56
 Good ammo, 01/20/2008
Reviewer: eclipse
Read other reviews. This ammo is great. I have had no problems with my two M4s. It cycles well and is accurate. The cause for the misfires and feeds may be anything. Don't give up on the ammo. Tweek your weapons with a good reputable smith and try again. This ammo is too good to let go.

I was using a LWRC gas piston rifle and shot various different ammo at various grains. None of the other rounds experienced problems at all that day. The grains were 55, 62, 75, and 77. The manufacturers were Wolf, Sellior and Belliot, Federal, the mentioned igman, and 2 others I can't remember right now. Could be I got 2 bad cans, could be I just got a bad batch. I don't know. But the numbers are there for you for the ones that did get stuck. Will I buy the igman again? Maybe. The cans are nice. I'll have to caliper each round before I use it if I decide to do so though. Not sure 30 cents a round is worth that. Also, the 1200 rounds of igman were shot through a 3 month period after cleaning the rifle after each range day. Cleaned, inspected, and repeat problems. Not saying all the ammo is bad, just some of the rounds I received.
The cause of your bolt action problem, 12/31/2007
Reviewer: Joe Smith
You guys who are complaining that the round won't cycle your bolt completely - try several ammo weights to see if it is the rifle. One likely cause of your rifle not cycling and/or double feeding is the two hex nuts that attach the gas tube fitting to the top of your bolt carrier. If they are a little bit loose, your rifle won't cycle correctly. This causes a double feed because the bolt comes back far enough to catch the next round, but not far enough to eject the shell just fired. If you are having double feeds, a second likely problem is a worn out magazine where the top has splayed apart a little bit. A decent rifle for any purpose other than match should shoot whatever you put in it, even shitty ammo. Hope it helps. - Joe
 Bummer, 12/25/2007
Reviewer: Kwang
Out of the 1200 rounds I bought, I'd say about 20 percent of the rounds caused my rifle to double feed. I calipered the rounds that stuck to my bolt and they measured at .3775 while the other rounds measured lower than that averaging around .375. If you buy this stuff, don't count your life on it. and if you have to, caliper each round before you use it. Well atleast the cans they come in are nice. Hopefully they dont use lead based paint.

Reviewer: GOOD AMMO
FOR YOU GUYS THAT RATE THIS AMMO AS HAVING TO USE YOUR RIFLE AS A BOLT ACTION YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO 1. LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR RIFLE AND MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO IT 2 OR SEND IT TO A GUNSMITH. THIS AMMO FEEDS AND FIRES LIKE A CHARM IN A GOOD AND WELL TUNED AR. SO MANY VARIABLES FROM CRAP MAGAZINES TO JUST PLAIN CRAP "FRANKENGUN" BUILDS THAT CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THAN ANY AMMO OUT THERE. SO PLEASE SEND ME ALL YOUR WORTHLESS AMMO, I'LL SHOOT IT FOR YOU.

Definitly decent ammo. I was just looking for something to shoot so me and a couple friends went intogether and about around 4000 rounds. I have a bushmaster AR15 A2 and a DPMS M4 and a POF lower armalite floating upper. I have shot over a 3500 rounds and atleast 1000 of the this stuff through the Bushy with one jam total using the M855 after maybe 500 rounds in a couple days without cleaning. I would say depending on the twist this can be fairly acurate as well. First time using this @ 300 yards I got an 8'' group out with 20 rounds usuing iron sights. I like this for 1in 7 and even 1 in 9 twist.

 Bad Ammo, 10/17/2007
Reviewer: Stuff
I Purchased this ammo based on mixed reviews. Found that the ammo will not cycle chamber. This is a BAD AMMO do not purchase. I was firing an Armalite AR-15 well maintained. You will have to pull your charging handle after each round to Cycle ammo from mag. You will have to reload this ammo for it to be usable. : - (

Reviewer: usmc killer
i have experienced the m855 penetrator rounds first hand. i didnt buy them here but i use them quite often. i am a Marine and we use the m-16a4 and the m855 was designed for a rifle with a 1/7 twist like the m-16a2. you arent going to ge reliable feeding in an ar-15 unless it was previous govt issue. the ammo was produced to be used in a military rifle. i have not had a jam yet in the oh...1200 rounds i have used in either my m-16a4 service rifle or the 249 saw. so quit complaining.
 Feeds Well, 09/28/2007
Reviewer: Philz
I put 20 rounds through my Bushmaster AR, semi-rapid fire no problems. As far as penetration goes, I cannot say, I was just shooting paper at 50yds.
Make sure you can fire 5.56!, 09/20/2007
Reviewer: Mark
This ammo will work great if your gun is chambered to accept a 5.56 and .223 or the throat is eroded from a .223 chambering. The problem guns below sound like classic examples of what happens when you use 5.56 in a .223 only gun. Higher operating pressures and thicker case brass will result in jams and broken extractors! Everyone else - have a ball!

 GOOD STUFF, 08/10/2007
Reviewer: spence
out of a friends ar-15 it wouldnt even shoot, the 2 times he tried the bullet got jammed in his chamber and had to be banged out with a rifle rod, not sure whats up with that... but in my mini 14 it had no problems at all it was accurate, went bang when i pulled the trigger and had no problems ejecting which was interesting because my mini wont eat wolf, 1 out of every 3-5 rounds wont eject, so go figure, maybe this stuff aint the best for ARs but with a mini 14 it was great (its also a penetrator round has a steel core good stuff to have around;)

This stuff is great! You could have got it back in Jan for $227 a can right here! There are some old catalogs that say "If you want two cans in the original wooden crate, order two cans" this is not true! You just get a credit of $10 for the crate. 12 FPS to slow, some of the new AR15s dont like it. In my Mini14 works great.

I shot 400 rounds of this today thru an old truck engine that was out in the desert. This ammo worked splendidly in my custom heavy barreled A2 that I just built. I should have ordered this back when it was only $299.00 a case.

 Great ammo, 06/07/2007
Reviewer: ar4life
Glad I didn't read the reviews- or I may not have ordered any of this ammo. I've shot 1/2 case so far, out of 4 different AR's. Had 100% function in everything except my varmint AR (has a match chamber). I was just fooling around when I tried it in the varmint rifle, I wouldn't use SS109 in this rifle anyway, but the chamber was too tight to be reliable. But in all my M4's and A2. it was great, and accuracy was also good in the 7 twist barrels.
