Manufacturer: Military
Item: AMM-236

This is M855, SS109 Penetrator made by Igman for Military contracts around the world. This ammo was tested and approved by the US Military but was rejected as a NATO round because it was 12 Feet PerSecond too slow. This means a great bargain for you on real military contract ammunition. Each can holds 6 Bandoliers of 100 rounds each on 10 round stripper clips in 3 cartons of 30 and one carton of 10. You are buying 600 Rounds in 1 can.

Igman .223 Ammo is very high quality, manufactured in Bosnia. This is new M855 SS109 Penetrator ammo, 62 grain with new cans, strippers and bandoliers. This ammo is being used right now in Iraq and is designated penetrator ammo. This is some of the best ammo on the surplus ammo market today at a great price.

Not sure if those of us with bad reviews just hit a bad batch, but I too was unable to use this ammo. STG-556 cycled ok for the first couple mags, but never held bolt back on last. Once the gun heated up it short stroked every round. Even on the "dirty" piston setting it was a single shot gun. I have about 1.5k of various other .223 and 5.56 through the gun with ZERO malfunctions. LMT PISTON MRP. Short stroked EVERY round. I have about 300 rounds of other .223 and 5.56 through the gun with zero malfunctions. There must be something else going on with the ammo I got (and that some other reviewers got) because my issues were NOT gun related. I have not tried this ammo in a DI gun as of yet.
4.0 Rating Good Ammo...but No Lake City - 3/15/2009Ammo .223 and 5.56 NATO Igman M855 600 Round Can 62 Grain SS109 New Can of 600 in 6 Bandoliers4.0000

This ammunition is a very good value compared to the Lake City stuff, however, performance was not as consistent. My accurized Colt H-Bar that typically holds under 1MOA with Lake City M855 was shooting closer to 2MOA with this stuff. One thing I noticed is that the green coating used on the tips was very inconsistent...leaving blunt ends, irregular lengths, and sometimes a crooked tip. I did remove the thick coating off a few rounds and these did group markedly better. Despite this gripe, it's still great plinking ammo and functioned flawlessly in my rifle.

I bought 600 rds of this m855 ammo & didn't have a problem with the 1st 30 rd mag last Saturday, but the 2nd 30 rd mag single fed until about the last 5 rds. To rule out the mag. I loaded it with some different ammo & it fed just fine. We probably shot 250 rds most of which was other various ammo., all with no problems. I'm shooting a Bushmaster M4 that's about a year old with maybe 500 rds through it. It was clean at the start of our plinking session. I don't want to totally blame the ammo at this point, but it's sure looking suspicious. A marine friend was with me so for grins I had him clean the gun as he was taught. I'll see how it does the next time I get a chance to shoot probably after the holidays.

Save yourself loads of aggravation. Spend the money and buy a Bushmaster with 1:7 twist. My M4 is four years old and has cycled somewhere in the range of 50,000 rounds. I'm a class 3 shooter and it eats these bullets as fast as I can lock the mags. The only problem I ever had was a broken ejector from shooting steel-cased Wolf ammo. Replaced the broken ejector and was back on the firing line in minutes. Bushmaster's are voracious. They eat anything and everything. It's the gun you can bet your life on!
