I have fired over 2000 rounds of this ammo and I have to say it is the best ammo for the price. Out of all the rounds I have fired there has been only 5 or 6 rounds that I have had trouble with and 2 of those being a result of my fault. I plan on buying this ammo as long as Cheaper Than Dirt sells it, and I would suggest this ammo to anyone.

Not bad ammo for plinking and the range, but wouldn't count on it in a fire fight. I fired approx 250-350 rounds with a Bushmaster M-4 and had the case jam in the front of the barrel twice and had to have the range officer dislodge it out with a cleaning rod.The range officer suggested Silver Bear instead of Brown Bear ,I also keep my weapons very clean having this concept drilled into my head in the Marines.

I have fired about 500 rounds of this ammo in my Ruger SR556. After trying other kinds of ammo this is the best by far. Never had one problem in the 500 rounds, and did so without cleaning my gun just to test it out. Great ammo for the price just ordered a few hundred rounds more. Definitely recommend this ammo to anyone!

This is good stuff. Over 500 rounds not one FTF. No loading issues at all. OK accuracy, 25 out of 30 within 2" at 100 yards. Spits the shells in a neat pile 5 foot back, easy to clean up. I have probably bought over 1000 rounds between this, Silver Bear FMJ. A little on the dirty side, I stress little. You need to clean your weapon daily anyway. Great for watermelon shows. I fired out of a RRA LAR-15.

I bought 400 rounds of this ammo based on the reviews I read. NO misfires, NO remedial action taken! 200 rounds we shot from a factory new Colt AR15 carbine, and 200 rounds from a 580 series Ruger Mini 14. The temp was mid 90s. I expected that I would have had to break down my rifle for a field clean, but never had to. The ammo is not even that dirty, not as clean as Remington, but a lot cleaner than Wolf. It's an iron sight workhorse. I will be buying much more Brown Bear.

I decided to try this ammo due to the overall good reviews and fantastic price. I've now run about 200 rounds through my PLR-16 without so much as a single FTE or FTF. It doesn't even seem like it's that much dirtier than my American made ammo. The accuracy is fine for my comparatively short range purposes. For the price, I don't see how you can beat it. I'm buying more.

Bought about 10 boxes of this stuff since it was cheap and I wanted to get some rounds through my Bushmaster XM15A3. Loaded up a 20 rnd mag with this and I could maybe get 2 rounds out before it jammed on me. Seems like the hollow points were gettings caught on the magazine lip or something because I noticed scratch marks on the tip of the jammed bullet. Won't buy these again but they do fire.

I recently bought 18 boxes of this ammo, expecting it to be cheap, low quality ammo at best, and to cause terrible malfunctions in my new FN SCAR 16S at worst. This ammo shoots just fine in my SCAR. No problems at all. I've fired nearly a hundred rounds of this through it thus far, and the only thing bad about it is that it leaves a lot of filth in my weapon. Very similar to Wolf ammo in this regards. Not what I'd want to carry to the 'stan, but good enough for plinking or varmint hunting! Great for the price!

I'm not sure why anyone would say this product is crap. I bought a brand new, out of the box, Stag Arms AR-15 model 2T, and 500 rounds of this ammo. I have yet to have a misfire, jam, FTF, FTE, or any other kind of malfunction you can think of. I have shot my rifle rapid fire, hot, cold, dry, wet, dirty, clean, and still have yet to have a misfire after all 500 rounds through the rifle. Accuracy is still good, not match grade, but who cares? I can still hit a 1 foot target at 200 yards with a 4 MOA Aimpoint. When am I going to need to shoot more accurate than that? A good product. I am literally about to buy 500 more rounds of this stuff after writing this. Buy all that you can while this lasts because just like any good thing, it has to one day come to an end.

For the money, they can't be beat. I was a little scared using this cheap stuff in my rifle that I built. Everything I have read said that the upper wouldn't feed the Russian ammo. I have shot about 400 rounds through it without one misfire or jam up. I am very pleased with it. I would give it 5 bullets if it would have done better at long range. A very tight group at 100 yards, but at longer range my Hornaday ammo blows it away. Like I said, for the money and just throwing lead down range, it can't be beat. Not near as dirty as I expected either.

This is the cheapest ammo going, so like most other reviewers, I was skeptical. I bought a couple hundred rounds to see how it fired in my Rock River LAR-15. Loaded up 20 rounds per mag and fired as fast as I could pull the trigger. No problems whatsoever, even with a hot barrel. Powders seems to be a little dirtier than other ammo I have fired, but not really an issue. Not sure if I just got a good batch or if other reviewers' guns are more finicky than mine. Rock River is known for tight specs, so it would seem if it fires in my AR it should fire in most AR's.

I did notice that my groups were all a little high from center however it was pointed out that this is a 62gr bullet and I am usually practicing with a 55gr bullet. Overall I really like the Brown Bear and cannot complain with the reliability based on shooting a box and a half. I did notice that this was somewhat cleaner than other "cheap" ammo that I have shot. Initially, I was having frequents jams with the HP's getting stuck on the feed ramps, because of the burr between the barrel extension and the lower receiver. I ran a hundred rounds of this ammo through my Rock River Tactical Carbine. I like Wolf .223 but it is a bit on the dirty side. It cycled through my RRA without a glitch, misfeed, misfire or problem. It goes without saying that if you keep your gun clean, then it will DRASTICALLY reduce cycling problems for the most part. I will buy more..........

I purchased 400 rounds of this ammo, and was very happy with its performance. I shot all 400 rounds through my SR-556 without a misfire or jam. I shot a 10 round 1.5 inch group at 80 yards. The only knock on this stuff is the red grease on the primer, which gets all over the bolt assembly. The powder is not the cleanest. If you do not mind doing some extra cleaning to your rifle, then this is very good ammo.

I bought this ammo based purely on the price and figured as long as it shot I'd be happy. Since I received it in, I've cycled over 200 rounds thru my Bushmaster without a single problem. Gun is clean after shooting without excessive buildup in the gas tube, chamber, bolt face etc. Looking over brass (or should I say steel) I noticed one case where the neck had split---I noticed nothing when I was shooting, and if this was high quality brass I intended to reload I'd have been upset---as it was I kept it as a souvenir LOL! I'm buying more and I'd recommend it to anyone---only downside is the stupid brown paper packaging that is totally non-reusable...if you don't shoot a whole 20rds be prepared to have loose ammo or keep it loaded in a mag. Not a big deal, just take a Ziplok when you go to the range!

I have been shooting and building AR15's for going on 15 years and have shot most ammo from many makers and barrels from 55gr to 77gr from 1x12 to 1x7, moly and chrome lined (except Hi end Hi $ Lilja,Lothar etc.) I have not had any issues stated here or anywhere else with this ammo, except some guns short stroke 55gr if a strong recoil spring is used, no such issue with 62gr, and I agree its dirty but no dirtier than anything else. My current barrel is a "USED Colt 1x7" (paid $75) I reheadspaced and redrilled the gas port on. I stuck an "old" 3x9 bushnell scope on it I bought for 15$ to test it before selling it. It zeored in 8 shots at 100 yds and I shoot golf balls and shotgun shells... havn't taken it off 3x. My brothers "iron sight A2" I built puts 'em in 1.25" at 100yd with a Bushy 1x9 and he hit a prairie dog at 240 paces W/Irons using Slvr Br 62gr SP. Bottom Line "High Dollar" don't make you shoot straighter!

I ordered 400 rounds last week. My sweety and I went to the range today. How could you not? It was 62 degrees here in Wisconsin on March 14!!! Well anyways, I shot 140 rounds of this stuff through my M&P and never had a missfire or a jam. The other half was shooting some Winchester stuff through her Bushmaster she picked up somewhere. But I had read some reviews that stated the Bushy's didn't like the Bear. Well it worked fine for the first ten rounds. Then it jammed! She had already shot a 100 rounds of that Winchester ammo. So I thought maybe these reviews were right. But then we went home and cleaned our guns. Hers was a filthy pig from that Win. ammo. Mine was dirty but no where close to as dirty as hers. I was truely surprised! So here I am writing this review just after putting a order in for 1000 more rounds. I recomend that you don't buy it so there is some left when I get some more coin. I will be buying until it is gone.

This stuff is a good deal for the price! My mini 14 ate this stuff all day with no misfires even ripping 30 rnd mags as fast as you can pull the trigger. This stuff will penetrate 1/4-3/8 in steel plates due to the fact the bullets are also solid steel with a thin copper plating (I pulled a bullet and ground it down) I worry about wearing the lead/bore though the steel must be softer than barrel steel. It is dirty (clean your gun!) and not match ammo but shoots M.O.M (minute of man) and that's all I need it to do. Get it while you still can

Good ammo for the money. Dirty but I clean my gun always anyway. Maybe not so good if you do not have a piston system (most ARs) due to residue. Don't expect great groups but also not so bad neither. I fired over 1000 rounds of these w/o one single problem. In same league as Wolf but I like this better due to the extra grain and soft point. I think it makes it just a bit more accurate. Cheaper than Dirt, way to go!!! I give it 5 bullets because it does the job well in its category. Do not try to compare this with Sierra rounds. Look at the price! Bought some of this for my SIG 556 carbine for general range practice. The SIG eats the stuff w/ no issues. Slightly less accurate than actual the more expensive mil spec 5.56mm NATO, but still great for large volume shooting sessions that don't break one's wallet. These 62 grain HP, can certainly to do double duty as decent self-defense ~ high velocity + hollow points = nasty results inside the typical bad guy home / property invader. However, if you're preparing for Orwell's "1984", and you're running a NATO mil spec semi-auto, pay the extra ducats for the real M855 5.56 NATO 62 grain stuff. I bought five-hundred rounds of this ammunition two weeks ago and have shot one-hundred of them so far. I had never ran this brand of ammo through my AR-15 before and kind of went out on a limb buying such a large quantity without trying it first. But I have not been disappointed with this ammunition so far. Every round I have fired has fed, fired, extracted, ejected, and hit the target relative to my aim. I did have to adjust my front post up an inch to compensate from where I had it sighted in for 55 grain. My opinion on this ammo is if it will function in your rifle, buy it because there is no better price for any .223 ammo. And CheaperThanDirt.com has the cheapest price out of any place that sells this.

Brown Bear is excellent plinking ammunition. The bimetallic jacket means it isn't very effective in tissue, so don't plan on using this for defense, but for shooting at paper, cans, etc. it is very effective. It is loaded a bit hotter than Wolf, in my experience. I've had a single DUD out of thousands of rounds. That's actually a pretty low failure rate, since I've had American made factory ammo with primers backwards. One DUD, with as much as I've shot, is nothing. Don't let the lacquer scare you. The lacquer is much better at preventing rust than the polymer Wolf is using now. I prefer lacquer. Great practice ammo. I try to get this if it is available.

In my gun this 62 grain ammunition produced better shot groups then .223 Remington UMC, FMJ, 55 grain. The groups were consistent at 50 yards with 1.50 vs 1.75 with the UMC. The data was almost identical thru both AR 1-9 twist and Saiga. I honestly did not expect much from this ammo but was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the HP when fired into modeling clay. No complaints! Shot over 250 rounds and they are just as accurate as any other. No jams through my RRA AR-15. Shoots true. Nice grouping.

I bought this ammo based on all the positive reviews even though several friends cautioned me against running this "junk" thru my new stag model 1. 200 rounds went thru like butter and 50 yard 5 shot groups of 2.5 inches with iron sights. FYI the remington ammo shoots 2 inches lower and milspec ball shoots 1 inch higher at least thru my 16" barrel. All in all great for the price.

Excellent....

I've shot over 1,000 rounds of Brown Bear through a DPMS AR-15. Not one problem. Break in a new gun with 400 rounds of brass cased ammo and then try this stuff.

Ive been reading reviews for this ammo for months, and have been skepitcal to say the least. I finally bought a couple boxes to try, and Im glad I did. YES, its dirty... If you dont clean your rifle after every outing, you WILL experience FTC, etc. But great practice ammo for a great price. Thanks CTD.

This ammo is dirty and unreliable. It's just not worth the price. Spend a little more for much better ammo.

I've shot about 400 rnds of this ammo in my S&W and Bushmaster AR's using several differnt brands of mags. It's very reliable ammo and accurate enough for plinking. It's priced right and I'll be buying a lot more.

This ammo is by far some of the most accurate ammo I have ever shot with my AR15. I shot 2 different staples off my target page from 25 meters with 4 shots! The only reason I gave it 4 bullets instead of 5 is because it is so dirty. Also some of the cases had red dye on them which makes me wonder about some of the quality checks at the plant. I guess who cares though if it goes bang and hits where you aim it. Not to mention this is probably some of the cheapest .223 on the net right now.

I bout 1200 rounds of this ammo for my AR-15. I was scepticle with the price being as low as it is but I was absolutely thrilled with the ammo. I shot over 400 rounds yesterday without one single dud or jam. I am going to order another 1000 rounds!

I purchased 20 boxes of this to break in some new ARs. I couldn’t freaking believe the reliability of this CHEAP ammo. I had no failures even with some crappy mags I was running it with. Accuracy was on par with standard rounds. You’re going to need to clean your rifle a bit, but these are DI guns, you should clean them regardless of ammo. The only down side is these aren’t reloadable, but for this price who cares. I will be ordering more. I used a Smith and Wesson M&P15 16".

I took my Stevens Model 200 to the range yesterday and tried a variety of ammo; Federal FMJ 55 gr, Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 55 gr, Wolf FMJ 62 gr, and this ammo. At 100 meters I achieved the smallest group with this ammo and the worst was with the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip. $5 a box compared to $30 an add to that the better accuracy I had, its a no brainer.

Shot just over 300 rounds of this ammo so far in my Colt 6920. Zero misfeeds or misfires to date. It's a little inconsistent at 300-yards, but at this price I'll shoot it all day long.

Bought 300 rounds for a new Colt AR-15 LE6940. Shot 100-200 rounds of another brand at indoor range the day before - not 1 misfire. Put 60 rounds of this thru today - 1 misfire. Next 40 rounds was close to 50% misfires... Ran about 10 rounds of someone elses other brand thru - no problems... I hope it was just a bad batch, but I won't buy again.

I have fired over 2,000 rounds of this ammo. At first I was a little hesitant about Russian ammo, but after the first three mags. I was hooked. Over 2,000 rounds and not one miss fire. The only thing to keep in mind is that it is lacquer coded. So clean your weapon well and enjoy.

Would recommend it!

ok my scope is sighted in for the standard m855 ammo i usually buy from ctd, but even at only 50 to 100 yrds there is a difference in accuracy threw my bushmaster m4a3. but the price is worth me re adjusting the sight haha, would give it 5 but deff not home defense but not jams of any sort ither which is a plus, but not sure about being good for your gun, i sware i hear some sort of vague sound when shooting this. prob the casing though.
