I have been shooting and building AR15's for going on 15 years and have shot most ammo from many makers and barrels from 55gr to 77gr from 1x12 to 1x7, moly and chrome lined (except Hi end Hi $ Lilja,Lothar etc.) I have not had any issues stated here or anywhere else with this ammo, except some guns short stroke 55gr if a strong recoil spring is used, no such issue with 62gr, and I agree its dirty but no dirtier than anything else. My current barrel is a "USED Colt 1x7" (paid $75) I reheadspaced and redrilled the gas port on. I stuck an "old" 3x9 bushnell scope on it I bought for 15$ to test it before selling it. It zeored in 8 shots at 100 yds and I shoot golf balls and shotgun shells... havn't taken it off 3x. My brothers "iron sight A2" I built puts 'em in 1.25" at 100yd with a Bushy 1x9 and he hit a prairie dog at 240 paces W/Irons using Slvr Br 62gr SP. Bottom Line "High Dollar" don't make you shoot straighter!

I ordered 400 rounds last week. My sweety and I went to the range today. How could you not? It was 62 degrees here in Wisconsin on March 14!!! Well anyways, I shot 140 rounds of this stuff through my M&P and never had a missfire or a jam. The other half was shooting some Winchester stuff through her Bushmaster she picked up somewhere. But I had read some reviews that stated the Bushy's didn't like the Bear. Well it worked fine for the first ten rounds. Then it jammed! She had already shot a 100 rounds of that Winchester ammo. So I thought maybe these reviews were right. But then we went home and cleaned our guns. Hers was a filthy pig from that Win. ammo. Mine was dirty but no where close to as dirty as hers. I was truely surprised! So here I am writing this review just after putting a order in for 1000 more rounds. I recomend that you don't buy it so there is some left when I get some more coin. I will be buying until it is gone.

I have been firing brown bear for 2 years now , and I have bought more 400 rounds of brown bear for my Colt AR-15 5.56 Nato, I clean my gun everytime after a day at the firing range, this morning, shot 7 rounds, the gun jammed... every shot after that, jammed the gun, i even switch 6 different magazines to see if it was my mags, but still the gun jammed, might be faulty casting, but for a semi-auto ar-15, i was the only guy shooting an AR-15 like a bolt action rifle...thus a bad day at the firing range...

This stuff is a good deal for the price! My mini 14 ate this stuff all day with no misfires even ripping 30 rnd mags as fast as you can pull the trigger. This stuff will penetrate 1/4-3/8 in steel plates due to the fact the bullets are also solid steel with a thin copper plating (I pulled a bullet and ground it down) I worry about wearing the lead/bore though the steel must be softer than barrel steel. It is dirty (clean your gun!) and not match ammo but shoots M.O.M (minute of man) and that's all I need it to do. Get it while you still can

Writing this reveiw because I got On line to order a 1000 more. As far as the dirty remarks my rifle was dirtier after firing 60 rounds of federal than 250 of these. You better buy some before I buy them all :-)

This is great ammo. It is dirty and has a funky smell but so what. For this price what do you expect? I spent about 200 rounds last weekend and had not a single FTF or FTE and it was very accurate. The red dye on the primer it is a little hard to clean off but a good brush and some elbow grease will get you there.

I shoot 500 or so rounds a day through various guns I have just because I don’t have anything better to do. I’ve bought so much of this ammo not even funny. For ammo just to shoot at junk it’s perfect. I have had not one jam after 2500 rounds or so. I have had around 10 duds, but that’s not a big deal. If you want a lot of ammo, cheap, you can’t beat this Brown bear. I shoot this ammo in a Bushmaster XM 15.

Good ammo for the money. Dirty but I clean my gun always anyway. Maybe not so good if you do not have a piston system (most ARs) due to residue. Don't expect great groups but also not so bad neither. I fired over 1000 rounds of these w/o one single problem. In same league as Wolf but I like this better due to the extra grain and soft point. I think it makes it just a bit more accurate. Cheaper than Dirt, way to go!!! I give it 5 bullets because it does the job well in its category. Do not try to compare this with Sierra rounds. Look at the price! Support our troops and a well organized militia. That's the best home land security right there.

So I decided to take a chance on this brown bear. I read all the reviews and thought what the heck. I have a SCAR and it ate this stuff up like candy. If all you have in mind is some serious plinking, you can't go wrong with this stuff, especially for the price. Why pay twice that or more? My buddy's and I blew through around 600-700 rounds of this and Silver Bear. That was shot through a Steyr Aug and a Bushy M-4. The Bushy had two FTE and all the rest were a cake walk. Anyway, hope that helps any of you out there with a few diff weapons and performance. I will be buying several cases of this stuff, highly recommended. Be sure to clean your Guns, it's a bit dirty, not terrible though.

So I bought around 300 of these rounds and another 300 of the .223 FMJs a while ago for my Ruger Mini 14. I've blown through about a good 400 rounds and I've had absolutely 0 problems with the ammo. A little dirty, but nothing a quick cleaning after the range can't fix. Even when I didn't clean my rifle after using these bullets, I had no problems the next time I shot it. Overall great ammo, especially for the price. I'll definitely buy these again, considering how much ammo is going up these days.

Bought some of this for my SIG 556 carbine for general range practice. The SIG eats the stuff w/ no issues. Slightly less accurate than actual the more expensive mil spec 5.56mm NATO, but still great for large volume shooting sessions that don't break one's wallet. These 62 grain HP, can certainly to do double duty as decent self-defense ~ high velocity + hollow points = nasty results inside the typical bad guy home / property invader. However, if you're preparing for Orwell's "1984", and you're running a NATO mil spec semi-auto, pay the extra ducats for the real M855 5.56 NATO 62 grain stuff. Stock up on both if you can - always good to have back ups.

I shoot this out of my Bushmaster M4 and it don't miss a beat. In the years past, I would only buy the WWB of .223/5.56 at $5 per 20 rounds. I can't find them now for less than $10, so this is all that I shoot. American ammo is the cleanest, most accurate and best ammunition on the market, bar none; however, for the price, you can't beat Brown Bear. Yes, it's a little dirty and not the most accurate, but it does the job and does it well. For those of you who are looking to build up your supply of .223, don't hesitate to stockpile Brown Bear while you still can.

I can think of alot of ways that God wants to take this marine off his planet, but i know one way he doesn't want me to go, and that is shot dead because that crappy brass stovepipes every other mag. Wish they issued this in the Corps, would love to use this in country,. These rounds, both the FMJ's and the HP's group identical if not better than most of any issue or commercial ammo i can find. I bought five-hundred rounds of this ammunition two weeks ago and have shot one-hundred of them so far. I had never ran this brand of ammo through my AR-15 before and kind of went out on a limb buying such a large quantity without trying it first. But I have not been disappointed with this ammunition so far. Every round I have fired has fed, fired, extracted, ejected, and hit the target relative to my aim. I did have to adjust my front post up an inch to compensate from where I had it sighted in for 55 grain. My opinion on this ammo is if it will function in your rifle, buy it because there is no better price for any .223 ammo. And CheaperThanDirt.com has the cheapest price out of any place that sells this.

Brown Bear is excellent plinking ammunition. The bimetallic jacket means it isn't very effective in tissue, so don't plan on using this for defense, but for shooting at paper, cans, etc. it is very effective. It is loaded a bit hotter than Wolf, in my experience. I've had a single DUD out of thousands of rounds. That's actually a pretty low failure rate, since I've had American made factory ammo with primers backwards. One DUD, with as much as I've shot, is nothing. Don't let the lacquer scare you. The lacquer is much better at preventing rust than the polymer Wolf is using now. I prefer lacquer. Great practice ammo. I try to get this if it is available.

In my gun this 62 grain ammunition produced better shot groups then .223 Remington UMC, FMJ, 55 grain. The groups were consistent at 50 yards with 1.50 vs 1.75 with the UMC. The data was almost identical thru both AR 1-9 twist and Saiga. I honestly did not expect much from this ammo but was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the HP when fired into modeling clay. The rounds expanded after 2” and created a cavity 4” wide nearly 6” long. Good ammo, I already ordered more.

This ammo is dirty and unreliable. It's just not worth the price. Spend a little more for much better ammo.

I've shot about 400 rnds of this ammo in my S&W and Bushmaster AR's using several differnt brands of mags. It's very reliable ammo and accurate enough for plinking. It's priced right and I'll be buying a lot more.

This ammo is by far some of the most accurate ammo I have ever shot with my AR15. I shot 2 different staples off my target page from 25 meters with 4 shots! The only reason I gave it 4 bullets instead of 5 is because it is so dirty. Also some of the cases had red dye on them which makes me wonder about some of the quality checks at the plant. I guess who cares though if it goes bang and hits where you aim it. Not to mention this is probably some of the cheapest .223 on the net right now.

I bout 1200 rounds of this ammo for my AR-15. I was scepticle with the price being as low as it is but I was absolutely thrilled with the ammo. I shot over 400 rounds yesterday without one single dud or jam. I am going to order another 1000 rounds!

GOOD, CHEAPPP!!

Good ammo for cheap, never had a mis-fire or jam with it... STOCK UP NOW!! Bullets are going to be the "new" dollar when stuff REALLY gets bad! "A rich man invests in Gold, a wise man invests in Lead"

I purchased 20 boxes of this to break in some new ARs. I couldn’t freaking believe the reliability of this CHEAP ammo. I had no failures even with some crappy mags I was running it with. Accuracy was on par with standard rounds. You’re going to need to clean your rifle a bit, but these are DI guns, you should clean them regardless of ammo. The only down side is these aren’t reloadable, but for this price who cares. I will be ordering more. I used a Smith and Wesson M&P15 16".

I took my Stevens Model 200 to the range yesterday and tried a variety of ammo; Federal FMJ 55 gr, Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 55 gr, Wolf FMJ 62 gr, and this ammo. At 100 meters I achieved the smallest group with this ammo and the worst was with the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip. $5 a box compared to $30 an add to that the better accuracy I had, its a no brainer.

Shot just over 300 rounds of this ammo so far in my Colt 6920. Zero misfeeds or misfires to date. It's a little inconsistent at 300-yards, but at this price I'll shoot it all day long.

Bought 300 rounds for a new Colt AR-15 LE6940. Shot 100-200 rounds of another brand at indoor range the day before - not 1 misfire. Put 60 rounds of this thru today - 1 misfire. Next 40 rounds was close to 50% misfires... Ran about 10 rounds of someone elses other brand thru - no problems... I hope it was just a bad batch, but I won't buy again.

I have fired over 2,000 rounds of this ammo. At first I was a little hesitant about Russian ammo, but after the first three mags. I was hooked. Over 2,000 rounds and not one miss fire. The only thing to keep in mind is that it is lacquer coded. So clean your weapon well and enjoy.

Would recommend it!

I bought this for my Rock River Arms CAR4 Elite just for target practice, I put 60 rounds through it today with this ammunition without a single jam. Pretty reliable so far. Will be ordering more. I don't like buying from Russia, but hey, times are tough right?

ok my scope is sighted in for the standard m855 ammo i usually buy from ctd, but even at only 50 to 100 yrds there is a difference in accuracy threw my bushmaster m4a3. but the price is worth me re adjusting the sight haha, would give it 5 but deff not home defense but not jams of any sort ither which is a plus, but not sure about being good for your gun, i sware i hear some sort of vague sound when shooting this. prob the casing though.

With the current going price for ammo these days, this is price is hard to beat. I shot 200+ rounds of this through a Mini-14 without a single jam or missfire. Also, it wasn't as dirty as I was expecting.
