This ammo is of reasonably good quality for the money spent as far as reliability is concerned however as with anything else you get what you pay for. I have fired roughly 60 rounds out of my DPMS AP4 w/16” barrel and have had only 1 issue thus far. Further down you will see a review from “frogman” in which a bullet lost its primer and lodged in the throat of the chamber. I can vouch for this event as it happened to me as well. I have had the weapon inspected by a gunsmith who assures me it was not the weapon’s fault through excessive headspace or a fouled chamber as the weapon is new (less than 400 rounds shot through the weapon) and was adequately lubricated. A member of the team I shoot with is a reloader who mentioned the only way this will happen is if the bullet is overcharged or is poorly made. Please note that in the roughly 60 rounds shot through the new weapon there has been only 1 incident where this occurred thus far. Also of note is the difference in either velocity or grain between this and standard military issue 62gr LC ammunition. It will account for about a 1.5 – 2 inch vertical difference when the rounds are shot at 25 meters.

I only fired 3 boxes to break in a new self built carbine. Rifle has a 16" stainless barrel mid length gas system medium contour 1/7 twist. This ammo does seem to be a bit on the warm side, loaded to 5.56 specs, not .223 specs. Had no blown primers or problems. Tight 3 shot groups at .25 yards with iron sights. Only fired 3 boxes though.

Great Ammo!

Great clean ammo. Outstanding accuracy out of an FS2000 with a 17.5 inch barrel with 1 in 7 inch twist. I was getting 1 inch FIVE shot groups with an aimpoint and 3x magnifier. Perfect functioning. Amazing ammo.

This accurate and very well produced ammo. Frogman must have been firing something else. I've been using S&B for years and have not experienced any of the problems that of read here or anywhere else on the web. CTD keep selling S&B green tips (lower the price, please). I'll buy them any day or time over LC's M855 ammo.

When I first got these rounds they seemed to be the best bullets for the money. However after shooting them a few times I started to notice that they blew the primers out of the back of the case. The primer came out and went into my trigger assembly and locked up my gun. The other day I went out and started to target practice with my AR-15 and when I shot the 19th round the back of the bullet exploded. After inspecting the gun and bullet I found out that I had ss109 rounds in the clip. The primer had came out of the 18th round and went into the throat of the chamber, throwing the head space off. The other round in the clip also exploded ( glad it was only one round and not more ). Now I have to go out and buy a new bolt for my rifle. So if you have these rounds or are buying these rounds watch out for this problem. (Editor note: Please have your chamber checked for excessive headspace or badly fouled chamber.)

Good performance however...

The SS 109 bullet performs rather well and will penetrate steel consistently. but for those that buy this for personal defense take note: SS 109 or current 5.556 Nato rounds were designed for the M-16A2 with a 20 inch barrel with a 1:7 twist If you like myself have a M4 (I own two Bushmaster and Stag arms) Then the M-193 round gets better performance with a shorter barrel and fragments better with the M4 But the SS 109 is great for a 20 inch barrel or like the gentleman above me has a 24 inch barrel and have a rifling twist better as a good as 1:7

Got this to just have a little cheap fun. Was VERY accurate out of DPMS AR-15 with 24" bull barrel and 1in 9 twist. Shot .5 inch groups at 100 yards as long as I did my part. Was also surprised at how clean it was. Will be buying MUCH more of this.
