This ammo isn't bad

I author The Bob Rich Shooting Journal and hunt with CCI TNT on at least a weekly basis in my 2 17HMR Henry rifles and my Ruger Single Six revolver. I also shoot hundreds of rounds with it quite often at the range. I use the ammo because it really does a job on squirrels and chucks. The problem is that I find this ammo inconsistent. One box will shoot great and with another I'll have 5 misfires; all with good firing pin strikes on the rims. I also find that at 50 yards I can hit nickle-six stickies all day but every so many rounds I'll have a flier. I've missed more than my share of squirrels with this ammo due to misfires. It happens in all my guns so I know it isn't the firearm. Like I said, I continue to use it because it is less expensive than most other ammo around and when I get a hit, it takes it down.

My Favorite .17 HMR AMMO.

This is probably the best .17 HMR ammunition on the market. Very accurate out to 200 yards. I've shot Hornady's .17 grain V-MAX and was unimpressed, I've shot Hornady's 20 grain XTP ammunition (which is also very good), but the CCI .17 grain TNT ammunition is my favorite. I've killed many squirrels with these cartridges.

Well, all I can say is that Zach's review lacks credibility ! I bought a Savage 17HMR for my boy and put an inexpensive scope on it until he got proficient with the gun, and I sighted it in at 100 yrds with this ammo. WOW ! cutting figure eights with this round was easily achievable at 100yrds. Now off to the field where in NY on certain days your able to hunt crows; Hello!! 257 yrds DEAD ON. Zach, I really think you were unfair, and your equipment, which by the way you failed to list, well all I can say is maybe you've got a screw loose somewhere !

Great coyote round

I hunt coyotes every day. I manage a ranch in Arizona. I have to say that I used a Winchester 3030 mod 94 to dispatch coyotes until my wife gave me a savage bolt action rifle in 17 hmr, it was a small rifle with a small bullet. At first glance I was not impressed but I put a cheap scope on it and kept in in my truck. Later that morning after sighting in the scope at a hundred yards I was very impressed with the groups all would fit in a quater size spot right off the bat. I then later that morning at about 125 yards or so dropped this guns first coyote. It did it's job well and I was surprised at it's effective range. I have to admit that I do not have alot of experience with small rifle calibers, I mainly use 3030 and 30 06. It just started getting costly, I can get 50 rounds of this for cheap and it does the job well, I have dropped 6 coyotes in the last month and plan to keep this as my ranch rifle. I can say only good things about ammo and don't let the size fool you, it will do the job on coyotes, stray dogs and gophers and is accurate as can be.

I use these for coyote hunting, In fact I shot one today with the CCI and Im looking to get more. if you don't have you gun sighted in, it might not work well for you with any brand of ammo, but overall these are good for what I do.

The best so far

Admittedly, I'm just breaking in my Savage 93, but I've tried three different brands of ammunition and the CCI is the most consistant shooter so far. I'm just not getting the kind of groups I expected(just over an inch at 100 yds) The guys at the range say it's operator error and they just may be right.

Zach your crazy this is the only round i have ever fired from my marlin 917v and i get grouping the size of a dime at 100yds sometimes hitting the same bullet hole twice so i will say this is a very good round and a great price also ill shoot nothing else in my gun

Target, yeah. Varmints, no

I'll agree; They shoot flat. Very disapointed with the performance on rabbits. Goin back to the V-max bullet for them. They may cost more, but it only takes one shot to kill instead of two. I'll target practice with these.

I have fired about 900 rounds through a Savage model 93R17-BTVS AccuTrigger. The results was fantastic. I would recommend this ammo to anyone for the price. It is just about all I have shot in this gun.

I have put over 1,000 rds of this ammo through my weapon. I have groupings that fit under a nickel at 100 and 125 yds. This may be the best ammo for the buck that I have found. I will not shoot another type at this point in my life. Baldy 17

These little bullets shoot flat and are moving at speeds far beyond what we have seen in 40 years. The twist in your barrel will tell the real story. try these and if you are not satisfied try a ballistic tip. I'm very impressed with them too. No brag, just FACT! Snake Dr.

I found these to be ABOVE AVERAGE from 50 yrds to 200 yds with a CZ 452 FS with a BSA Sweet 17 scope. Largest group from rest was 1.6 and smallest was .8. These perform spectacularly on Gophers and Prairie Dogs.

Don'T really believe that Mr. Zack Nelson's reveiw was an honest opinion based on MY own results from using this ammo!!!!!!!!! Sounds to me-Like he's got scope or sighting problems!!! Maybe he just shot his gun at a target and expected it to hit the bull's eye;- because his other .17Hmr ammo was alot closer to the bull's eye!??? ALL AMMO SHOOTS DIFFERENT!!!! CODITIONS COULD BE DIFERENT! CHECK YOUR SCOPE AT DIFFERENT YARDAGES ! 25yds; 50yds;75yds;100yds; and so on and so on !! THIS ammo is pretty damn good in my rifle == 5/8" groups almost constantly at 150yards!!! TUNE YOUR GUN! AND TUNE YOUR SCOPE!!!!
