Original military projectile that was so deadly the U.S. thought it might be against the Geneva Convention! In the 1960s the U.S. Army began early developmental work on flechette weapons. The thought was to fire these wicked steel darts and cause massive casualties among the enemy.
Flechettes are 1" long, hardened-steel nails with fins, and number approximately 950 darts per pound. There were experimental flechette rounds for the M203 grenade launcher and the 12-gauge shotgun.
These rounds had tremendous military advantages, as they were lighter than standard rounds, had much lower recoil, had considerable range, and could penetrate body armor. A very high velocity, small diameter projectile easily penetrates body armor. We are not recommending that you load these or try to weaponize them. They represent the ultimate military weapon and a unique historical item. Great conversation piece, and sold by the pound.

HA HA HA HA - This is great. I am stumbling around CheaperThanDirt as I am apt to do when I've got some money to kill and I figure I'll buy a couple of pounds of these things. There exactly as described - exactly the quality used in 12ga. Flechette rounds. Great stuff, good price and, as is always the case with these guys, delivered quicker than you'd ever believe. Only problem is, what am I gonna do with 2lbs. of these things now?

Wish I had a nickle for every 2.75 "nails" I loaded in a Cobra. Thanks for the memory and I agree they are a great give-away for our brothers.

i started collecting WW1 to Viet Nam US mil gear 25+ years ago and I have been setting up a display at different shows for years. I give away things to the vets that stop to look. I have given away dummy rounds, grease pots, condoms(Viet nam issue),and VN mag bags. These are the one item that everyone brings a friend to the display for. By far the best give-away I found.
