Took a little work to put on my wasr. Lower handguard was easy to put on. Upper handguard needed a file job cause it's lil' to long. Fits very tight and looks sick!

It was perfect in every way, from product to shipping. God I love Texas.

I put this on my WASR10 side-folder. I had to do some trimming thats the reason for the 4 bullets. I put on a Tapco front grip. It works great. Thanks!!

Shipping was unbelievably fast. Had to do some very minor dremel work (shaving)on the lower handguard, and then it went on easily and tightly. As so many others have remarked, the upper handguard was somewhat difficult to install, but this was NOT due to the product, it was because of the way the product attaches to the gas tube, which is the same way the original wood furniture attached. Once you have each end started in the grooves, it takes some considerable effort to twist the handguard inside the grooves. This was made much easier with a pair of slip-joint pliers and some elbowgrease. After installation, it is a rock-steady platform, and it looks great. I'm extremely pleased.

I was skeptical at first, but after putting it on in about an hour I am pleased.

looks cool, fits comfortably in the hand...but its a pain in the back to get on...required a hammer and flat head screw driver to make it fit...the cleaning rod also dont drop into lace like it should with this installed...due to the tight fit, my Romanian AK no longer rattles...

1st off very speedy delivery. 5 stars for CTD. I installed this with my MAK 90. I spent 5 hours just to put the upper and lower parts on my rifle. I had to do some shaving on the upper and lower parts. You have to have patience with installing this. For the person who gave the info on installing this thank you. Looks real good. Very tight fit once its on.

I JUST FINISHED PUTTING ON THE MAKO FRONT HAND GUARD. THE INSTALL WAS A SNAP. REMOVE THE TOP OF THE HAND GUARD. TO REPLACE THE CURRENT WOOD YOU WILL NEED A CRESCENT WRENCH AND FIND THE TWO FLAT PANELS ON THE BACK OF THE UPPER GUARD. HERE IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO. PLACE THE WRENCH SO IT FITS TIGHTLY ON THE FLAT PARTS. WHILE HOLDING THE WRENCH IN ONE HAND TAKE HOLD OF THE WOOD AND TWIST IT UNTIL IT ROTATES 180 DEGREES. THE WOOD WILL COME OFF AT THAT POINT. TO PUT THE NEW MAKO HAND GUARD ON PLACE THE EDGES INSIDE OF THE HOLDER AND TWIST IT BACK 180 DEGREES; IT WILL SNAP IN PLACE. THE BOTTOM IS EASIER. HOLD IT SO YOU CAN SEE THE GAS TUBE (WOOD IN YOUR HAND) . LOOK AT THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE AND LOCATE THE LEVER (IT IS SMALL) LIFT IT AND THE RETAINING PANEL WILL SLIDE FROWARD. PLACE THE NEW MAKO GUARD ON THE GUARD AND SLIDE THE RETAINING PANEL BACK IN TO PLACE AND PUSH THE LEVER DOWN. HERE COMES THE PART THAT WILL TEST YOUR PATIENCE'S GETTING IT TO SNAP IN PLACE CORRECTLY TAKES SOME PATIENCE'S AND TRIAL AND ERROR. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MODIFY THE NEW MAKO GUARD IT IT IS MADE TO FIT. WHAT I HAD TO DO WAS ADJUST THE UPPER GUARD SO IT WAS SQUARE WITH THE BOTTOM. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRIES BUT IT FINALLY SNAPED INTO PLACE. GOOD LUCK.

I have tried 3 other handgaurds on my ak an all had problems. This fits perfectly is very comfortable and looks great. Great buy!

It fit (the wasr) after minor mod of the joining seam. Hint : Removal (or shave them down) of the small hemispherical interruptions closest to the receiver & maybe the tabs . Though it does fit brilliantly !!!

I received the grips in less than two weeks. I had more trouble getting the upper wood guard off than installing the new one. It was just a hair long on two spots so I used a nail file and sized it. It was a breeze to install after that. The bottom wasn't any trouble at all. The rails work and they have made my Hungarian AK look good. Thank You for shipping so fast.

As many others here have mentioned, plan on spending some time getting these pieces to fit...especially with the lower handguard. I read the reviews before buying, so I knew what to expect when getting this set to fit my Romy sidefolder. This kit has a real rugged feel, which is why I rated it so high.

Handguard set looks great... but despite warnings below, had a heckuva time getting off wooden part of the old upper handguard. It never occurred to me it would turn IN the two U-shaped brackets. After about an hour of banging and swearing I just twisted it in angry frustration and the the wood part turned nicely 180 degrees and practically fell off. The new one was just a hair too long so a minute grinding with the dremel made it fit easily but snugly. Hope this helps others.

well i have to say that this hand guard set looks amazing on my Romanian WASR-10 and is quite comfortable. the bottom piece fit great. however the top piece was a royal pain in the... well you know. it took me well into 3 hours with pliers, a hammer and a punch to get this piece onto the gas tube. i had to completely bend out the front retaining ring on the gas tube (due to it being spot welded in place) and trim a considerable amount of material off the hand guard piece to get it to fit in place. after a lot of sweat and frustration it fit fine and once installed it is rock solid. you definitely need some patience if you plan on installing this set on yur weapon.

Overall..Looks Cool,Feels OK..But Installing this was a headache! The bottom Fit In Quiet Easy,But getting the top on was the hardpart. the notches didnt seem to line up,and I had to do sum filing.Alotta putin it on takin it off to make it even and close the gaps.Took Bout 20min but it was worth it..Hopefully

I have an RPK clone and with some modifications to the lower was able to get a nice fit and it looks much better than the original upper and lower. Had to make some modifications to the upper as well but they both look and feel great.

Bottom half fit perfect, Upper took an hour with a dremel tool. But it looks great when finnished.

This replacement grip is great! I have used it for serious firing with attached grips, lights etc. It is well maded and stays in place solidly. Even when firing large amounts of ammo this grip has good vents for cooling and never gets to hot to handle. It did take some file work and elbow grease to get on but worth it. Thanks CTD for the great product.

This was pretty difficult to put on the WASR-10. I thought it was a near impossibility. I finally put it on my friend's AK however after we were done we realized we forgot to screw on the side rails. Neither of us thought we were going to get this back on if we take it off. So the rails stayed off. Spend a few more bucks and get the UTG quad rail system. I have that on my rifle and it is spectacular.

This was a very nice purchase. The hand guards went right on with a little tap. After Bump Firing a couple hundred rounds they were pretty warm, but not so that you couldn't still hang on. Way better than the wood hand guards. That's why I give this product five bullets.

Like the last review, I have a flat sided WASR 10 and my install took about an hour. Bottom was pretty easy, with a non-marring hammer. Top end, Dremel, vise, crescent wrench,file and non-marring hammer. I filed down the front sleeve of the gas piston to get the upper to fit. I had the same problem with the piston tube not locking. In the end, I filed down the tabs on the bottom of the upper to make the lock work. No real problems. 4 bullets because I'd like the side rails to be a lower profile and there's no covering on the side of the trunnion. The other lower was flush all the way around. It's on it's very snug and it's staying . Glad it looks good too.

With a little elbow grease the lower hand guard fit perfectly. The upper was almost 1/8 inch to big. Better to big then to loose. It took me 4 hours to get the upper on, including running to the store to buy a Dremel. After I shaved the front down enough to fit the piston sleeve, I couldn't get the sleeve to lock. It took me another 20 minutes of pushing, pulling, oiling and just playing with it to get it on. As is stated below, this item fits very tightly. That is good, because I mounted a Red Dot sight to the top, and it hasn't yet lost it's zero. Also all my friends are jealous of how good it looks on my commy gun.

Well this item looked really good in the catalog but getting it on my AK is easier said than done. Since there are small variations in a lot of AK models some may fit better than others. Mine is a Yugoslov model and it has proven all but impossible to make it fit. If you don't have gunsmithing tools or access to a good gun smith this item might not be a good idea.

This product worried me at first. I couldn't get the gas tube cover to fit but after some minor modification to the gas tube it worked great! Nobody knows more than Israel about small arms.

This Handguard was just as advertised. It fit easily on my WASR 10 and finished it off looking like AK should. It is different than the one pictured because I got 9 rubber pads that snap on the top and side rails. It looks better than the one pictured. AUTOMAG11

This was the perfect handguard for my Norinco MAK 90. I opened the box, and had it on the gun without a dremel, a rubber mallet or any modifications in less than 20 minutes. Just slip the lower forend's rectangular slot in the bottom of the receiver and push with a little elbow grease to get the bottom started, then line up the forward retaining pin and voila the bottom is on. The top was a little trickier because you need a pair of pliers, or channel locks to rotate the upper handguard into the correct position. other than that, no tools. Holds zero on my red dot sight. and is a very tight fit. A huge improvement over the wood furniture. Buy this one and be patient during the install, you won't be sorry. (when rotating the upper hand guard on the gas tube. use a towel or rag on the end of it so you don't mar the finish, then just rotate in small increments.)

They fit on Romanian AK-47, they will not fit on YUGO AK-47's imported in from century arms! So buy an original AK-47, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, ect. not a century arms AK-47! Because these are awesome front handguard, with a rail system, man these are GREAT!!!

Be careful this does not fit all AKs

This front forearm has great ventilation and looks great, as well a must for your AK-47. It fits great on my Romanian AK. It's an easy install, I thought. A great deal for the price! Buy it now while you still can!

This product is by far the worst thing you can order for you AK. I recieved this product in the mail yester, and i sent it back today. It is way too tight of a fit for the AK. Unless you shave the wood down to the brim and the it might fit. But who wants to make the wood weak by shaving it down and then in the long run break while fireing your weapon. I just ordered the Quad Rail System for my AK AKS 101. It looks way more durable.

Great Product from our friends at Cheaper than dirt. Small paper in bag says "Easy Install with no tools" that is my only gripe. I had to use a vise, a file, and even a dremel to make it fit. Bottom fit fine but the top part needed some shaving to "roll" into the gas tube brackets for the foregrip. (The top part was a little too long on both sides). STRONG MATERIAL, GREAT LOOK ON THE GUN with or without additional rails on sides. Fast shipping from Cheaper Than Dirt, just be patient and maybe set aside some tools. Worth the wait if this product is out of stock!

It was a tight fit putting it together even though I had to cut a small notch to get pass the carrying handle, my WASR-10 is a RPK clone. The wooden furniture would get hot after a day at the range but this foregrip never once got too hot to touch. Even after 200 rounds in under 15 minutes, my hand remained gloveless and only felt warm air.

Very nice item. I'm very happy with it. I didn't have to do any fitting but it was very tight. I'd rather it be tight like that than loose and sloppy. I recommend it highly. I also purchased the rubber rail guards at the same time and put them on bottom rail, sits in my hand really nice.

this grip fit flawlessly onto my wasr-10 i had no trouble at all. this added my mush needed accessorie rail to my Ak.

I forgot to note that a close look at the CTD photo will show that the screws for the 2 side-rails are put in from the inside of the upper guard. This is done so that the screws will be flush with the lowest part (the trough/channel) of the side-rail.

Installed on a MAK90 No modifications were needed, but they sure are a tight fit. It took a few hours to getter done because I was proceeding very slowly and being very cautious not to bend/break anything. With the experience behind me, I could probably now install them in 45 minutes or less. The guards are solid and don't move at all, so holding a zero should not be a problem. The upper will be used for a HWS. The rubber mallet (mentioned in one of the other posts) did the trick for getting the lower guard into the proper position (thanks). In order to get the tabs on the upper guard to properly seat with the holes on the lower, the upper guard must be PRECISELY aligned on the gas tube, otherwise one side will match up but the other side will not. A crescent wrench was used on the flat portion of the rear of the gas tube to firmly hold the gas tube while twisting the upper guard into place. A great product at a nice price, these are keepers. Excellent product, especially for $60. Good tight fit on my Norinco, sturdy, rails are well made. I would buy this again. May need fitting by a patient individual (not me) so take that into account before buying. Overall nice product.

I am very pleased with this handgaurd. It has that look about it that will make your AK very unique. I am not so sure about the "Easy Install w/No Tools" bit as both halves took quite a bit of force to fit properly. However I did not have to alter either piece. I will be using it as a scope base for a red dot and am confident that it will hold zero. Matches nicely when used in conjuction with the Tapco butt stock and grip.

great handgaurd,lower handgaurd fits tight and the upper is a #%@!* to get on but will go on,overall very happy,i placed the order on friday and cheaper than dirt had it to me on teusday,great service!

bottom fits great just needs a little tap with rubber mallet but goes in smooth top needed a little grinding but if you cant get it to fit you dont need to be shooting this gun not as hard as others make it out to be looks good the only problem i had was a screw was missing for the side plates but ctd said they would send me another one will see, and will let you know

I recently purchased this forgrip for my WASR 10 and I could not be more pleased. It took a small amount of force for the bottom guard but it fit nice and tight. The upper peice took alot more work though. I had to take a dremel to the ends that rotate around the gas tube they are about a 1/16 off but very easy to fix. After I was done I could not believe how great the gun looked. By far the best looking hand guard I have seen. VERY VERY HAPPY Matt

This product fit nice and tight on my Romanian SAR-1. I had to wrestle with it to get it on, but did not have to take the dremmel to it, which resulted in a strong, snug foregrip. I have not tried to install the top grip as I already have a top foregrip I am happy with and only bought this product for the bottom piece. I have had problems in the past trying to get lower foregrips to fit on my SAR-1 and was both relieved and pleased to find how tight and sturdy (good looking as well) this product is on my rifle. Definatly a keeper.

This foregrip rail system fits only receivers with flat sides, which is most. My Century Arms sporter does not have flat sides, and the lower grip will not fit. Also, the upper guard is the wrong length for my Century Arms sporter, which comes with longer furniture. However, I installed the set on my Norinco Mac 90, but definitely not without work. I had to do extensive filing in a couple of places. First, the upper guard is just a tad too long for my Mac-90. Filing on the flanges to remove a total of about 1/32" did the trick. The upper was a bit more time consuming. I had to just about totally remove the 4 little spacer tabs designed to hold the upper and lower guards apart. The problem is that the tabs kept the upper from fully seating, preventing the camming pin from engaging and locking the upper guard in place. I finally got everything in place. The unit is nice once you get it installed. Just be aware that it might not fit your AK and that it probably will take some fitting and filing. One more thing: Be sure you know the correct way to remove the upper handguard from the gas tube (you can find directions on line). When you reinstall the furniture on the gas tube, be sure to rotate the tube so that the rail is level horizontally. For the Century sporter I'll get a clamp on system.
