Not for Romanian

This brake will not fit a Romanian AK-47 with an unthreaded barrel. Also the one I got was bored off center, would have been extremely dangerous to shoot. Very poor quality workmanship.

Ordered this for my MAK-90. Easy to install. Snug fit, make sure you don,t forget to swap the pins out to keep it in place. Put several hundred rounds through after without any problems

Ordered one of these for my MAK-90 since it said it would fit a chinese AK-47. It did not fit very well at all, it was way too tight, and ended up scratching the blue off the tip of my barrel and off the sides of the front sight as well. When I finally got it to line up with the hole in the front sight after banging hard on it with a mallet, there was still a noticeable gap in front of the sight base. It also looked every so slightly crooked as if a round might touch one side of it, so I knocked it back off and threw it away. Now I have to re-blue the front of my barrel. Very disappointed...

Simple and easy.

I would have given this a 5 bullet rating but I did have to do a little bit of filing to get this to fit on my MAK90. Not much of a problem but it took me about 15 minutes of careful filing to get it to slide on with a bit of tapping with a rubber mallet. Looks good now that it is on and pounding the old pin out of the front sight wasn't much of a chore after putting some penetrating oil on it the night before the install. Haven't shot it yet so I cant report on how well it works but it went on straight and there is definitely no chance of it coming off. Now for a quick tack weld and all set to go.

Perfect Fit!!!

I read the reviews on this part over and over, and because it only had a 2 1/2 bullet rating, deliberated over my choice. In the end, the guys that said it fits Russians and Chinese (MAK-90) perfectly stuck out in my head the most. Having a MAK90 I ordered it with my fingers crossed. I just installed and shot it tonight and it is PERFECT!!! The install literally took me 60 seconds with the right tools (1/8 brass punch & rubber mallet). I went out back and put thirty rounds through her and she purred. GREATLY reduced muzzle climb. If you have a MAK-90 don't hesitate! It fits snug and precise and looks cool to boot!

Bought this for my MAK-90. The biggest problem was getting the front sight pin out but afterwards there was no problem putting it on or getting the pin through. looks great!

I bought this to be used on a MAK 90. The muzzle brake went on very snug and is there securely. Shot about 30 rounds through it afterward with no problems.

I purchased one for my .223 NHM-90. The install turned out to be work intensive. Leaving my rifle "as is" would have been just fine but it's on and solid now.

It will do

Didn't really think that it would fit on my MAK-90, but I bought it anyway. After punching out the pin on the front sight, it slid in with a little work. Fits very snug and shoots really well. For the money, I think it's a great alternative to a permanet screw in muzzle break.

I would have given this part zero bullets if they'd let me. The part was an easy if a little sloppy fit on my MAK-90, but was good tight fit when pinned. But it was visibly crooked once installed! The muzzle on the brake was visibly out of alignment with the bore and did not/would not line up no matter what I did. Very unsafe. After several unsuccessful attempts to get a proper fit and alignment, I took it off and threw it away. Could be that the pin hole on my front sight post is not square, but I'm thinking the it is the quality control or lack thereof of the part that is the issue. This is a classic case of you get what you pay for.

after refabbing this break to finally fit. it was a big waste of time. i did not notice any differance in the recoil nor the muzzle jump at all. i took it off and threw it out.

i have the russian saiga 7.62x39. it will not even come close to fitting without some major re-fabricating. it is way to big for the barrel, and it won't even go back as far as where the sight is pinned on..i fabricate for a living, so i'll have to cut the coller off, make a new one and weld it back on and then it should work good. a lot of work for something that they said would fit a russian model

Excelent brake, fits very snug and pins in place very nicely on my norinco. pin could be of higher quality(recomend set with brass punch to avoid mushroming) but that was no big deal to replace. I think this is a quality product at an good price. and for those of you who can't read(AK lover) this is not ment for an AK 74, but that should go without saying.

I tried this on a MAK 90. It was a good, tight fit but the notch didn't line up with the front sight pin (either one) so I didn't pin it. My first shot blew the thing off and about 15 yards down range. It did give a good, heavy feel to the barrel though. Too bad there was no way (short of drilling another hole in the front sight base) to secure it.

I would have to agree with most buyers on this one. This ak47 pin on muzzle break cant be for an ak? I have a russian 7.62-39 and it was so big it went over my barrel, and i could not find someone that was able to make it work! I took apart my ak, tried many ways just to make it fit and there was still no way, i dont know how others have made it work in the past, cause it doesnt stand for an ak47? I sent it back and had to settle for the custom flash hider. I wouldnt recomend this for anybody with an ak.

get a brake

I ended up getting a muzzle brake for my ak-47 (wasr-10). It will fit with the cleaning rod if you put a cut in the bottom to fit around the rod. I chose to shave my rod housing off to just slide it on. The first time I shot it it got a little wobbely but I just drilled a hole in the bottom and put in a set screw now it works perfect. I have a bipod on my gun and when I shot rapid fire it would start jumping. With the brake, it just kicks back a little bit. You can still keep target in sights if your good. No jump at all. I even helped a friend put the same thing on his sks. It fit pretty good with set screws. If you want to improve your accuracy and reduce recoil I highly suggest getting a brake.

Modification Required for SAR-1

I bought this item for a Romanian SAR-1 figuring that if didn't work, I was only out ten bucks, compared to the cost of threading the barrel. OD is 0.875", OD around FSB is 1.00". OAL is 3.41". Width of FSB cut is 0.482". Bore diameter is 0.392". ID (muzzle) is 0.574". Supplied extended FSB pin OD is 0.119". They aren't joking when they say "Fits Russian and Chinese guns". As far as "will fit others with minor modifcations" goes, there is no cut in the bottom of the brake to allow room for the bottom of the front sight block (FSB) of the SAR-1. Even if there were, it wouldn't be safe to mount the brake that way (short of welding) as recoil could cause the brake to rotate upward around the pin, misaligning the brake with the bore. So if you have an SAR-1, pass on this one and thread the barrel. Otherwise, the quality of this brake appears to be very nice, so if you do happen to have a Russian or Chinese AK that it will fit on, it should work out quite nicely for you.

I don't now who's idea it was to say this is for a AK becuse it an"t. I tride to put this on my AK 74 and it will not fit, for one thing it is to big around and it will not slide over the end of the cleaning rod even with the rod removed it still won't work. I even went so far as to take it to a gunsmith and he said he had no idea how it could possibly fit, we also tride to fit it on a standerd AK 47 with no luck.
