| I bought the top and bottom of this set, and they work great. It did take a bit of sanding and filing to get the pieces to fit together right....but once they were on, they were rock solid. The only reason that I wouldn't give this upper handguard 5 BULLETS is because while at the range today, I realized that I couldn't get a good sight picture, due to the height of the rail on top of this handguard. If you plan on mounting optics on the rail, then you shouldn't have a problem. But if you want to use your iron sights, then you may have to do a little sanding or cutting to see thru the center of it. Over all...still a good deal. |

| I ordered this to mount a red dot sight on my Bulgarian with a fiberforce dragunov kit. It installed with a bit of effort. I used a cresent wrench to hold the gas tube while I struggled to pin the guard in place. The fit within the guard was nice and tight, however when the unit was reassembled, I noticed that the entire gas tobe wad some play in it.. Hmm. well I could live with a little play using a red dot sight. This piece has a totally diffent profile than the fiberfoce lower, so the lower heat sheild would not work at all with this top piece. I looked at the matching lower and I saw someone had posted that it melted when it got hot enough... Since there is not as much cooling space with these, I can see how that would happen. Anyway, I went back to the fibreforce upper and I have ordered a universal 3-7/8" picannty mount (mnt-501) which I will drill the fibreforce upper for.. I guess I will see if that works out better. |
