This shovel is exactly as it says it is. It's very durable, easily thrown, and chops wood well. IT IS EXTREMELY SHARP!

This is a really nice shovel. The ends are sharp enough to use it as a hatchet. The handle isn't as hard as hickory but still hard enough.

I like it

I bought this shovel and ill tell you it is nice. The side of the metal shovel and the tip are sharpened. It is heavy enough to take some damage but it you hit a lot of rocks you will dull it out. No problem just get a sharpening stone.

I'm very satisfied with the qulity of this shovel, I sharpined the edges to a razor sharp edge it slices through paper with ease, I threw It several times at a oak wood stump, and buried it 5 inch's into it, severl times, I have refinished my handle with a few layers of kevlar and after milling the shank down and set the screws in epoxy refinished the whole shoval in a flectar camo, its awesome. Its far better quility then other military shovels i'v seen.

good shovel

The handle on this shovel breaks too easily. After about two dozen throws into soft deadwood, the handle broke in two places, renering the shovel useless. The steel and the concept of this shovel is very good, but until Cold Steel switches to a stronger handle, this item isn't suited one bit for camping or survival situations. I'll have a woodworker make a hickory handle for mine.

Ok Shovel

Pretty cool shovel. Chops light wood well and is fun to throw at stuff. Edges are Sharp! I managed to snap the handle off after 2 camping trips. However, I am the type of person who is very hard on equipment. Makes for a good Shivel. I might buy another.

Good Stuff

I have bought many shovels before and by far this one is the best. I seen on the military channel that the russian elit army uses this shovel. And they said the shovel can be turned a sertain way and it will deflect bullets. But anyway this is a great buy!!

Best camping tool ever

Our whole troop is convinced, don't go camping without one of these. Every hole we dig starts with this shovel (some are finished with post hole diggers due to depth) and most finish with it. It has become our favorite hatchet for chopping firewood and you just can't believe how much fun it is throwing this thing at stumps, deadfalls, etc. The only way to improve it is to get the cover from Cold Steel. Cold Steel also sells replacement handles that are quite inexpensive, not that you'll need one for this shovel, eveything about this is tough as nails, but I've got some other projects (2 handed stainless machete) in the works that could use a super tough handle.
